http://artsiekat.com/forumpics/RawCatDiet.xls if that link works it is a calculator to figure out how much muscle meat/bone/liver/kidney to feed if following the frankenprey style of raw.
i feed 2.5% of their body wieght per day. housecats might be more like 2%.

lol, I am horrible at math so that spreadsheet is the only way for me to figure out how much to use.

Most people switch over how you are going too. First is feeding canned food and going for the high qualitys @ schedualed feeding times.

Thanks for the listing FF -- similar to the list for the dry food.

My concern is giving them the correct percentages of what they need. I'll start slowly - switching them to a better wet, canned food, and then try the pre-packaged. If they go for it, I'll make the move over. No sense in me getting healthy and not passing it on to them!

Innova EVO
Nature's Variety Instinct
Wellness
Felidae
Natural Balance
By Nature 95% meat

those are the best ones I can think of @ the moment.

Maybe try their prepackaged raw if your cats will eat it.

raw really doesn't take that long to make; for me I do it in 1.5 to 2 hours and that is preparing/measuring 30 pounds of raw which lasts me a week. The longest part is cutting up the liver/kidney into a pulp.

Thanks for the list on Fancy Feast... now I'll go home and see how well I did... LOL

Until I can get my head (and time) around feeding raw - is there a better choice of wet? There is a really great pet food store here that sells all kinds... and they would probably have whatever you might recommend. It's where I found the Orijen dry. In fact, I know they carry pre-packaged raw.

some of the fancy feast cans are good, some aren't.

here is a list of the good ones:

Tender Beef Feast (brown label color)
Tender Beef & Liver Feast (magenta)
Tender Beef & Chicken Feast (red)
Gourmet Chicken Feast (dark pink...be careful, this looks just like another chicken variety with gluten!)
Turkey & Giblets Feast (olive green)
Tender Liver & Chicken Feast (orange)
Chopped Grill Feast (kelly green)
Flaked Fish & Shrimp Feast (true blue)
Savory Salmon Feast (orange)
Flaked Ocean Fish Feast (pink)
Tuna and Oceanfish Feast in Aspic (teal label)
*Remember that it is a good idea to limit serving fish to just a few times a week.

Depending on where you buy your cat food you may be able to mix up the flavors of your canned food. We buy at Pet Mart and they let us mix up our cases of Fancy Feast and the cats LOVE it! I do think they get bored without a change now and then. =)

There could be something wrong with the cans which is why toby would refuse to eat it.

If you can, return the 9lives canned and get something else to try. Sophistacat elegant melodies (or i think that is the one) isn't bad. than the friskies poulty platter is better than the rest of the friskies.
