My cat constantly sleeps deep. I'm sure it is alright. I can pick up both of my cats while they are sleeping and they'll just slightly move or not even care that I'm there. I wouldn't worry too much about it. Take advantage of the fact you can clip nails when needed and have no problems! =)

wow that's different! I met a guy like that once when I was backpacking and he fell asleep at this futon movie theatre in Bryon Bay. Me and my bestfriend were trying desperately to wake him up ....thinking he was in a coma, It took us seriously about twenty minutes of shouting. Eventually he woke up at which point he told us that he always sleeps really heavy.

Finnegan's the same way, it definitely makes nail trimming easier. He doesn't always sleep that deeply, but we catch him like that frequently enough. I think it's alright, I've never thought twice about it, especially because he is like a hurricane when he's awake. Just made sense to me that he would sleep hard.

Amber - it's probably fine, especially if he is happy and active otherwise. I'm a teensy bit jealous - I wish my kitties would sleep so hard I could trim their toenails without them noticing.

This is your kitten who doesn't sleep through the night, right? Who likes to cuddle and play on your bed in the middle of the night? Seems like he gets his kip in the daytime then! I have never heard of a kitten sleeping so deeply as to allow anyone do anything with him like that - most kittens wake up and play or stretch when touched or picked up. I don't know the answer to your question, but maybe he's due a vet check-up soon, and you can ask them?

I have a 4 month old cat and just want to makre sure this is normal. Anytime my cat sleeps, and falls into a deep sleep, he sleeps so hard that I can mess with him and pick him up and it wont even begin to wake him up. Its like he is in a kitty coma. He sleeps so hard I even take advantage and clip his claws and he never even knew what happened to him. I just want to make sure this is normal?
