To get an orangey girl, you need to have a tortie mum and a ginger dad! It will benefit both of us, I'm sure.</p> <p>Hopefully she will become comfortable enough to sleep on my bed again this winter. She did last winter, but got out of the habit when spring rolled around. Her sister Rocky sleeps on my feet almost every night.</p> <p>Yes, Mojo, all of her paws are white. I think orange girls aren't as rare as some people think. I've seen a few now. Lucky Spitfire has been a happy and healthy member of my family, although she has always preferred the company of my other cats to my attention. She usually runs away from me, for fear of being picked up. She would only allow me to touch her at arms length, only for a few seconds at a time, and she would always flinch as I stroked her lovely orange and white fur.</p> <p>This week something changed. She likes to join her older brother in the bathroom sink, where I will turn on the faucet to a dribble, and he licks the water in the bottom of the sink. Lucky will play with the water stream and try to drink from it without getting too wet.</p> <p>I discovered purely by chance that she will now allow me to approach her and pet her when she's up at this sink. She even purrs and meows when I rub her little neck. It's the first time since I got this kitty that she allowed me to touch her like this, and I think it's simply wonderful that she's beginning to trust me.</p> <p>I hope her yearly vet checkup in January doesn't destroy that trust.
