If anyone wants to help transport 6-10 cats from Ky to Ny via Ohio check out the thread I am about to post. This is something a cat lover can do that only takes little time and can save lives.

SM, you are so right! Especially with dogs people need to know what the needs of the breed are and be sure they can provide that before adopting.

I am heartbroken to see all the kitties in those cages. And there was a basset hound or two. With those particular dogs, people look at the long ears and sad eyes of a puppy and are sucked in. Bassets are very demanding animals. They are highly social and get very lonely and distructive if they don't have a pack to belong to. My basset baby is kennel trained when I am gone, but he has to have his blankie or he howls. I know it is loneliness. Sometimes people should really check the breed out before they bring a puppy home--the puppy deserves a forever home.

There's been talk of legislation at the federal level offering tax rebates (I think) for people who have pets, to help them -keep- their pets when times get hard. I support this idea 110%.

Sheba's Mom, Job loss and foreclosures are a big part of the problem. It is sooo hard for everyone these days. We need more jobs in this country. Too many jobs are being outsourced. So sad for hardworking people and their pets.

With so many people losing their homes due to foreclosure/no rent money many pets are winding up on the streets, even purebreds. These poor animals did nothing wrong, are a victim as well, and have no clue where their loved families went. How sad! We wish we could help them all.

I'll forward this to as many people as I can Elizabeth. I also know that the smallest of donations help these kitties a great deal. Rescues are more willing to take in the shelter kitties if there is sponsor money to help.

Check out all the beauties. There are so many. I am fond of big orange boys. There is a 5 year old there. He must have had a home. There is a transport to Illinois and other places so if you see someone you want please contact Shelly and see if she can help the kitty get to you. They have no website listings for the cats at this pound so this is the only way the cats are seen unless you go there in person so feel free to crosspost the link if you have the inclination.
