hi all.. talked to the vet this morning and they said that this is normal but we should watch her, if it doesn't taper off within the next two days we should bring her in. The vet said we're doing everything right with hydrating and feeding the runt(his or her name is Smudge. We have the nursing box on the bed with us, which seems to make momma cat more content, only issue now is that our sweet Smudge knows who feeds 'em so we have a teeny tiny climbing crawling squawking terror on our hands.. it's super cute really, but we worry he's going to get cold. We have the heating pad set so that Mom has enough room to be away from it if she's too warm, but honestly she meows when the auto shut off goes into effect and lets us know to start it back up.. she snuggles and rubs her head against it :) (she's so sweet!) Smudge is getting used to syringe feedings, and makes super cute smacking noises when the syringe is near. I'm hopeful for this little one, but cautious right now.. never know what could be wrong that the little sweetie isn't latching on Mom.

Thanks so much everyone for all the help!! By the way, my Avatar is of Yoda, the babies momma!

if she recently had kittens, it could be that she still has a lot of 'debris' in her uterus that her body has to get out. i know that women who have babies usually have their uteruses (??) scraped after the birth to make sure all the muck is out. the muck can cause severe infections if their bodies don't clear it up natrually. hope your kitty is ok!

Jenni, I'm so sorry to hear that you lost your older cat, that's very hard. We have all been through that here and can imagine some of what you're going through. Let us know what the vet says about your cat and her babies, we will be worrying about her too until we hear.

it's mainly what seems to be spotting, and we set the alarm to contact our vet as soon as they open! I just lost my 13 yr old furbaby last week, so I'm very concerned about our sweet girl and her baby not making it now! I love all of our kitties almost as if they're our children. I so hope everything is ok!

I agree with Deb, that doesn't sound good, please call your vet right away for advice, you will probably need to take her in. It would be a good chance to ask him your other questions too. You don't say whether it's just spotting or a substantial amount of blood, but I would still call your vet ASAP.
