You can draw it to scale on graph paper so you will know how much wood you will need and how to cut it. Things you build will need proper structural supports so they don't collapse or fall over. Do you have a corner in your bedroom that you could devote to this? They have tunnels and steps up the wall to play areas near the ceiling. Cats love to be up high so a series of steps leading to a ledge near the ceiling might be a good project. I'm sure you will come up with something and you can use different materials (always makes the shop teacher happy to see students thinking outside the box... of course, it's been um, well, too many years since I took shop!).
