My sweetheart, if I'm working on the cpu and she comes in meowing and I don't pay her attention she will nip me on the leg and that gets my attention.

I have to get up and give her a snack. By the way my wife was the one that spoiled her. LOL

Hi; Bekajo, I am not an expert but concerning the meowing, I seen on the net somewhere that said if a cat is in pain it will not make a sound so if that is true then that's not the case with your kitten.
My cat when it was about 6 mo. old wouldn't make a sound and I couldn't figure out why but after about 2 wks. she started meowing so maybe your darling just isn't used to the new surroundings. Hope this helped

one of my kitties, sky, talks all the time. she never shuts up, except for when she's sleeping. she babbles. and we understand her. i think . . .?? very insistent meows means she's hungry, when i'm working on my pc she moans soft little moans (dont you love me anymore?), when i'm scratching her ears she has a special kind of meow (ooooh thats gooood). when i get home from work she runs out the front door and sits on the steps waiting for me, and then she meows and rubs against my legs. some kitties just talk a lot. i know siamese cats are known for being vocal. come to think of it, sky was supposed to be a blue-point siamese. . . (her mom and dad both were blue-points, and all the other kittens were as well, but sky's pitch black . . . think mommy might have been moonlighting a bit ;) )

Sophie just meows for no reason sometimes. Sometimes its for attention, sometimes its a question, sometimes is "can I come up to the bed?" sometimes its "I love you". I don'tthink anything is wrong with your kitty unless you are seeing no poop in the litterbox. Likely its just letting you know they love you!

Hi Bekajo! Welcome to TDK! I think you're so wonderful for giving this sweet kitty a furever home! LOL! Kitty may just be saying "I Love You"..."You please me"...or "Thank You Friend". Diet CAN be a source of stomach upset though and I suggest you keep it simple. Don't introduce alot of different brands of foods too quickly as it can give them digestive problems. If kitty is eating a fair amount of food and is eliminating into his box all should be fine. I suspect a diet of nothing but dry food could likely cause constipation if enough water isn't consumed to go with it. Good Luck! =)

I agree that I could be separation or even just because like Mojo said. I haven't had a kitten since I was 5 so I guess I just wanted to make sure I wasn't missing something that someone more experienced with cats would know. I also make sure to reassure her more when she meows just in case it is the separation thing.

Thanks for the responses!! :)

I don't really have much experience with cats havng only got lillie 3 weeks ago. She is my first cat. I can say a couple of times she has meowed for what seems like no reason. It's high pitched like she is crying. I don't think she is upset as she goes straight back to playing a dew minutes later and it doesn't seem to bother her. I talk to her and snuggle her when she does it incase she needs a hug or something. Personally, I wouldn't worry about it too much, I'm sure she is fine. It could be, like you say issues to do with seperation from her mum or siblings. She is still very young so I would imagine it's only natural! I'm not an expert but hope that helps at least a little.

Do you ever sing in the shower? Hum a tune to yourself while you're working? Talk out loud to yourself? What does it mean? Maybe the answer is, it doesn't mean anything! Maybe she just likes to meow because it feels good. Maybe she likes the color of your eyes. Maybe she's meowing to say thank you for loving me!

I found a kitten last weekend on the side of the road and decided to keep her. I took her to the vet and she got her fist round of shots and a flea treatment and they estimated she's 7 weeks old and perfectly healthy. But she meows sometimes and I don't know why. Most of the time it happens when we are snuggling or playing together and she's purring and just looks at me and meows a few times. I've read on here about anxiety from mom/sibling separation but she's so happy and playful usually and I makes sure to give her lots and lots of attention and pets and kisses and I'm always talking to her and playing with her, so I don't think that's it...

I also read that it might be from feeding her dry food that might make her stomach hurt. I tried giving her wet food and she wouldn't eat it... When I mix wet and dry she picks out the dry. I tried massaging her tummy and just doesn't seem like she's interested in that, so maybe it's not her stomach?

Any other suggestions? Could it be cuz she's happy? The meows just sound so sad... I wish I knew how to help her...
