You poor thing. What makes accidents like that even worse is that not only do you sustain all sorts of lovely looking injuries - you feel like an idiot for having fallen over in the first place! This definitely sounds like something I would do. So far I have avoided the broken nose and concussion (*knocks wood, crosses fingers, throws salt over the shoulder...*), but I seem to fall over on a regular basis. The funniest was when I got the hiccups at the Indian restaurant when we were there with friends. We had been imbibing some rather strong lager, and were giggling like crazy. We started walking home, and Mr Rubia decided to try the scare technique to get rid of my hiccups. So he came up behind me, shouted boo and intended to give me just the tiniest little push on my shoulders. Well, next thing I know, I am flat on my face in the middle of the street! Amazingly, my face did not fare too badly - a scrape on the chin and a bit of bruising on the cheekbone. But my hands were badly skinned, as well as my knees. Poor Mr Rubia - he felt SO bad! When we got home, he rushed upstairs and got cotton pads gobbed with antiseptic cream and plastered those to my hands. He was really upset. But once I got over the shock of the sudden landing, I couldn't help but think it was funny. LOL - he really hates it when I bring it up now.</p> <p>Anyway - I'll donate a bag of frozen peas and more martinis to the cause! It's so vascular in that part of your face. Get out your bag of frozen corn and keep it on your eye for a while. The bad news is that it's going to take at least a week for that bruising to even begin to subside. </p> <p>Do you have other lacerations by your right eye? If that swelling doesn't go down in a day or so then I wouldn't freak out, but I would ask about it.
