Hi there ANC153& welcome to TDK. Molly sounds adorable and she's already pulling your heart strings when you're eating. Shutting her in another room while you eat is probably best at this stage and when she's a bit older you'll have to have a chat with her and explain about what food is appropriate for a cat. I'm another New Zealander and Moonshadow is our dappled black Torti. That's her in my avatar picture, just click on her and it will take you to her Catster page where you can see other photos of her and what I've written about her. You can make Molly her own catster page and link it to your avatar.

ANC153, if I lived in the US, my kitties would be kept indoors too, we are just lucky here. I'm sure there will be accidents, as kittens especially get too 'busy' and then get caught short -- like little kids -- but she sounds very sweet and lovely. Is that her in your avatar? You could make a Catster page for her if you like. Does she have a name?

I wish she could be indoor/outdoor but I live in an apartment which makes it pretty much impossible as I am on the 3rd floor. I have been showing her how I cover the poop but for now on I'll use her paws to show her. That makes sense. She covers her pee but not her poo. It's nice that she's using the litter box though! No accidents and this is day 2. *Fingers crossed*

Oh dear, I remember this stage. I used to have to shut Max in another room when I was eating fish and chips and Libs would always climb up my knee, stand on me and try to eat off the rim of my plate. They grew out of it. Hopefully yours will too.

In NZ, there are no predators so kitties are inside/outside cats, so I'm afraid I don't have any great ideas for the litter tray problem. You could try showing her how to cover it and gently making her little paws scratch in the tray. Keep checking back as I'm sure other TDKers will jump in!

Hi I am a new kitten owner as of yesterday. I've had a cat before but she was full grown before I lived with her. This kitten is special as she is only 5 weeks old (her mother abandoned her or was killed). A lady found her and took her in until someone could take the kittens. However, I'm scared that she was feeding the kittens people food. Everytime I go to eat ANYTHING (even apple jack's cereal) she meows incessantly and will continue to do so until I am done eating. She will even climb up my leg! She isn't "hungry" because we are feeding her about 5 times a day (vet's orders because she was a little thin) and when she meows for our food we feed her some of her own food but she will eat a bit and then remember what she really wants: Dairy Queen. Any help/suggestions/similar experience? Any help would be great!

Also! She is litter trained but most of the time she doesn't cover her poopoo up with litter when she's done. (Can be very smelly considering she's getting over having worms.) Any suggestions? Thanks!
