NNGM, yes I knew about the gazebo. The swimming pool was put in for an Ethel Merman movie--the hotel sure doesn't need a swimming pool because even in July it is colder than crap! I stayed in the room next to the honeymoon suite. The honeymoon suite is on the end of the hotel, looking over the pool. My chaperone and her husband ended up in that suite! Our high school went every year for forensic competition in May. After 4pm you must be in formal wear to be out of your room. It was so much fun! We all brought our prom dresses and shared!

Vicki, I love Scrooged!!! It's surprises me every time somebody mentions it because every body I mention it to has never seen it.

I forgot Moonstruck, too. That's awesome. Oh, and Overboard, I always watch that one too.

I forgot Somewhere in Time, The Fog (the 1980 version; yes, that movie scares the $**t out of me, but that's the only horror movie that does that to me. Other 'horror' films either make me laugh or gross me out), The Sweetest Thing (especially the scene in which Selma Blair's character had the San Francisco fire department get her out of a, um, 'delicate' position involving body piercings and her boyfriend); To Wong Foo, Thanks for Everything, Julie Newmar; the Batman series (I think Michael Keaton was the best Batman, as he seemed to bring a dark energy to the role, which was probably the intent), Scrooged, and there are probably a few others in the recesses of my mind I can't think of right now.

HM, I remember "Imitation of Life"; I've seen it a number of times but not in many years. I'm with Dee and Sandra: Moonstruck and Dirty Dancing. Moonstruck because I'm a NY Italian bookkeeper who wound up with my BF's brother, it's the story of my life!

Joan, my dad turned me on to Silverado, and I left it off my list. If it's on I always watch it, and actually have the video tape and the DVD. Great movie with a quietly sinister Brian Denehy.

The Flamingo Kid. We must watch that every year around July 4th and sometimes again around Labor Day - great summer-type flick. Stars a young Matt Dillon.
Raising Arizona. Stars Nicholas Cage & Holly Hunter
Home for the Holidays. Holly Hunter
Animal House. (double-secret probation!)
1941. John Belushi, Dan Ackroyd, Ned Beaty, Warren Oats, just to name a few. I highly recommend this very funny movie set in WWII. Hysterical Californians prepare for a Japanese invasion in the days after Pearl Harbor.
How did I forget the classic Disney movies?? Dumbo was my favorite as a kid. (a short clip of that movie was in '1941')
Field of Dreams. Speaking of Kevin Costner...
Silverado. Kevin Kline, Danny Glover, Rosanna Arquette

And how could I forget Milo & Otis (thank you KyKat). The most loving animal/people interaction movie I've ever watched & never miss when it's on the tube.

I am going to take a moment to add

Labyrinth with David Bowie as the Goblin King... I think this should be required for all young women and girls as an allegory of living in an abusive relationship and getting out of it.

The ending where Bowie is delivering his "I did all these horrible things to you because you wanted me to" speech and her answer...
