Two tips for tackling her for ear stuff.

A) I normally bring treats and I cuddle her and pet her until she is all relaxed and than I sit on her..not literally sit, but I saw at the Vet they basically put the cat down in between your thighs while you are sitting on your heel. And wedge the cat between the thighs and sit on her so she has no where to go. Here is a link..the person in the picture decided to wrap them in blanket first..depending on how fiesty you kitty is..you might need to too. http://www.shvaika.ic.ck.ua/manipulationtreatments/pills/pills2.jpg

Make sure you are putting pressure on her back side but not too much so she can run and squirt out. and the put the drops in. i find it helps to give her, her fav treats right afterwards too.

B) another way...same thing get her relaxed..and have a blanket nearby. Wrap her in the blanket like a burritos, than flip her so she is on her back and on your thigh or on the table...and put them in. Here is a link to show you how:

http://images.google.ca/imgres?imgurl=http://www.shvaika.ic.ck.ua/manipulationtreatments/pills/pills2.jpg&imgrefurl=http://www.shvaika.ic.ck.ua/manipulationtreatments/pills/pillsengl.html&usg=__VKcPYD7TR0kSicjQxgT6lEQzXQ4=&h=411&w=600&sz=34&hl=en&start=13&um=1&tbnid=F5pk_ScffKEp2M:&tbnh=92&tbnw=135&prev=/images%3Fq%3Dhow%2Bto%2Bsit%2Bon%2Ba%2Bcat%26hl%3Den%26sa%3DG%26um%3D1

Treats after helps as well.

They get smart real quick and know its coming though..so I try to change up the times and the way I am 'tackling'/

Iliketea - I have to do he drops twice a day also, and she doesn't appreciate me touching her ears now, unless she is completly relaxed. I tried to give them a little clean today but couldn't get her to stay still long enough. She just ran away from me.

I know, I feel to blame about her ears. I was never told how to clean them properly and with her being my first cat i was a bit naieve. But she isn't the worse for it I'm glad to say. Still her usual self; playing with anything she can!!

JUST finished this thing with Sophie. I had to give her drops two times a day for a month! Basically the fur will just get greasy because of the solution even if you get it all in her ear.

I use a warm wash cloth, to clean the area once or twice a week. But she hated me being close to her ear so I had to wait until she was relaxed and put my face close to her and make licking and slurping noises while i used the towle to make her think I was licking her and not freak her out with the towel...a bit extreme I know..but it worked!

Hi Laurie, poor little Lillie, she's getting quite an induction in kitten nasties!

I (touch wood) haven't had to deal with earmites, so haven't got any advice, just wanted to say hi, and I saw you saw my message to you a few weeks back :o)

Lillie has ear mites. I was given 'spot on' and a solution from the vet to clean up her ears which is working. The liquid is quite greasy and with her wriggling when I'm trying to put it on her ears, it sometimes ends up on her head, just behind her ears. Now her fur is a bit greasy and her self cleaning is not doing much to help it. I'm just wondering if anyone has had this experience before or if you can give me tips as to what I can clean her with. Thanks.
