I do think it's possible for this position to exist (I found myself wanting this job!), especially in a small town. However, in the age of tech, laws, and fed micro-managing, it's probably been phased out and most of it is automated. Someone still has to put the mail into residents' boxes, though, and surely people still read postcards!

I had to think about this one for a while. It is possible for someone like her to exist and there are people who do--some older people for instance. I would buy my aunt an answering machine if I thought she'd use it. People have a hard time reaching her and I hear about it. LOL I try to have a simple life but I love my computer and microwave and camera. I don't have a lot of high tech stuff but I like them so I think a young person would have to be totally anti tech in today's world to live like that. Technology makes life easier in a lot of ways.

Alicia, can I re-open this discussion when I read the book? This one got by me, but I ordered it and it looks like a good read.

Well, at least it will be the last I come up with but would love to hear what you might think...can you see yourself at Harry? In this time of computers and high-tech gadgets, she hand sort the mail and does things the old fashion way...is it even possible for someone like her exist?
