My brother has seven children, and it never seemed like that big of a deal. I don't have any, so I say that we even each other out. Because they have a big family, they tend to hang out with other large families, and several of those families go (or used to go) to the same church. I used to joke that there was something in the drinking fountains there. I really don't have a problem with large families if the children are being provided for and are being raised to be good responsible adults.

Hm. That business about being fruitful and multiplying was spoken to the only two people on the face of the earth at the time.

As long as megafamilies grab the spotlight, I'm not about to worry about my "carbon footprint."

The Quiverfull Movement is the reason Jim Bob and Michelle Duggar (they of '18 Kids and Counting' fame on TLC) have eighteen children and counting; their eldest son Joshua and his bride just brought the first (of a potential 400 and counting) Duggar grandchild into the world.

I had not heard of that term until last night. The WE (Women's Entertainment) channel had a special on the topic last night. It was very interesting...try to check out a rerun.

Here is an NPR article on the topic...lots of comments after the article, too...
