Sometimes its tiring trying to think of ways to distract them, besides the always trusty, 'Oh, look shiny thing' (while pointing finger in the other direction, up at the ceiling, etc). Don't let it irritate you, keep on with it, usually if its a gut feeling it will work despite the nay-sayers.
