Qwilleran said, "If you tied a can to Koko's tail, he'd sit and stare at a point between your eyes until you began to feel dizzy. Soon there would be a dull ache under your left shoulder blade, then a stabbing abdominal pain. Your feet would get numb, and you'd find it hard to breathe. Then your blood would start to itch. Do you know what it feels like to have itching blood?"
Mrs. Cobb patted her friend's hand. "He's kidding, dear. He's always kidding."

Gatakitty gave me a blue ribbon!

Now, to repeat the earlier post for my quiz:

"[Book character] said, 'If you [committed this particular offense against the particular cat in the story], he'd sit and stare at a point between your eyes until you began to feel dizzy. Soon there would be a dull ache under your left shoulder blade, then a stabbing abdominal pain. Your feet would get numb, and you'd find it hard to breathe. Then your blood would start to itch. Do you know what it feels like to have itching blood?'
"[Housekeeper] patted her friend's hand. 'He's kidding, dear. He's always kidding.' "

Any guesses as to the words that belong inside the brackets?

Well, the year before, while Georgia was at the Orange Bowl, the Rose Bowl was being played at Duke University "as a wartime precaution," and the game returned to Pasedena that year. The venue could conceivably be moved again, though...

The bowl game in which UGA appeared after the 1942 season. It was not the Orange Bowl. That game marked something significant (to the bowl itself, not necessarily to UGA).

Okay, it was Frank Sinkwich in 1942. The face mask was invented for him because he was playing with a broken jaw. He played in the Orange Bowl, and was wearing a Marine uniform when he accepted his trophy. I don't know what was special about the Orange Bowl that year to make it unique, however, unless it had something to do with the fact that World War II was going on at the time.

Do I get a red ribbon for having most of the info?

Okay, to set the question in context, here is the literary passage from which it comes:

"[Housekeeper] patted her friend's hand. 'He's kidding, dear. He's always kidding.' "

Rats. I thought it was Ted Nugent: "Cat Scratch Fever."

Howzabout this one? For what Heisman Trophy winner was the facemask invented and why?

For bonus points, name the college this player attended and the year he won the Heisman.

For everlasting admiration, name the bowl his college played in that year and what was so unique about that particular bowl game that it will never be duplicated.
