Ahh, there she is! Mi doesn't seem to care that I'm yelling and hopping around trying to dislodge him! And he always does it when I least expect it, which means I can't try to avoid it or tell him no. Crazy baby!

Slinky aka Stinky sounds so funny, HM! GD, Mia use to do the climbing up my leg thing even when I was wearing shorts. I have yelled so loudly each time that now she just pats my leg with her paws if she wants to jump up.

Molly did that climbing thing until one day to her disgust, she discovered she was too big! Oh, she made the jump, got the claws hooked in, but didn't have the strength to lift her body and climb the rest of the way up with me yelling ow, ow, ow all the way! So take heart, he will grow out of it!

Unfortunately my boys have yet to figure out the don't scratch the chair and ottoman thing!
And Milo still tries to climb up my side when he wants something - especially food. These days because I'm at the gym, I'm wearing shorts most of the time. It HURTS! He jumps up high on my leg and digs his claws in to haul himself up. He gets yelled at quite loudly when this happens! He's a cute little guy, but I don't think he's quite as bright as his brother, who usually only needs to be told something once. Either that, or he's just stubborn!

When I was trying to get Molly not to claw the sofa, we would play this out. She would go over to the couch, sit down, and stare at it. I would say, "don't even think about it". She would turn her head to me, give a glare and a cranky meow, and stalk off, very offended. Now I just say, Molleeee...in a certain tone, I swear she sighs and walks away!

LOL - my brother used to have a huge grey cat named Slinky (who I renamed Stinky). Once at a family dinner Slinky came over to the table as if to beg (he loved ppl food and would sit up on his hind legs). My brother told him "Don't even think about it, dude". The poor thing was so offended he turned his back to us (but didn't move) and stayed that way until we were done.

SM, I bet she would if she could figure out which buttons to push and if her paws would do it correctly. Here's another thing she did recently. Her sister Buttercup is overweight, and recently we've been concerned that Penny wasn't getting her share of the measured amounts of food we give them at regular mealtimes. I set up a separate feeding station in Penny's territory. It's on top of a cabinet, about five feet tall, beside the bedroom window (that's the window through which Penny is supervising the back yard in one of her Catster photos). I put Penny up there to show her where her food would be. The next morning, Penny came up on the bed, meowing to be fed. Half asleep, I said, "It's up there, sweetheart," and pointed to the feeding station. Penny promptly jumped up and began to eat. As I lay there, though, I gradually realized that, to my knowledge, Penny had never seen that particular gesture--finger pointing--used before, and certainly not directed to her; yet, she knew exactly what I meant, after having been exposed to the new feeding spot only once.

Then there was the time last week when Penny and I were relaxing on the bed when my husband, wanting feline attention, called to her (she comes when called). She raised her head, looking drowsy. I told her, using spoken words only, that she didn't have to go if she didn't want to; she laid her head back down and resumed resting.

My boys are often waiting for me in the windowsill. Sometimes, though, if I make a surprise appearance, I wake them up and they look all confused - it's so cute!
When I got hoome when searching for my phone this morning, they both woke up and wanted to attention - and they both had that puzzled "what's going on?" look on their little furfaces!

Yes, I do believe it. How about how cats seem to know when you are coming home even before you arrive proves it to me. I had a roommate who use to say that my cat Whiskers would go sit by the front door 5 minutes before I arrived home. This would mean she would know that I am turning off the freeway to drive over the overpass and up the hill to our carport!
