That's great news! Try stimulation both before and after each feeding, until the kitten's both peeing and pooping. (Chances are good the poop will come out pretty gooshy.)

the mommy is outside because we have over 10 wild cats outside and if we let the babies stay out there they become wild and they just reproduce.

ann's right.....i found this -

"When the queen licks her kittens, she is not only cleaning them but also stimulating them to urinate and defecate. Massaging or stroking the kitten's anal area with a warm, damp cotton ball will provide the same stimulus. Massage the kittens after they have eaten and continue the massages for three weeks or until the kittens are capable of urinating and defecating on their own."

Take your kitten to see a vet as soon as possible. This sounds like a problem that requires medical attention. Good luck.

If you cannot get your kitten to pee or poop, you need to get to the vet right away. There could be a serious problem.

Take a clean washcloth, and run it under some warm water (the temperature of your shower or bath). Squeeze out some of the water, leaving the washcloth damp and warm.

Then start wiping the kitten's anus and genitals; a circular direction is fine. Do it for about 30 seconds or so. The kitten should pee and poop directly into the washcloth, starting a few seconds after you start wiping.

Use an unsoiled corner of the washcloth for a final wipedown, after the kitten seems to be done eliminating.

You need to do this, either right before or right after feeding the kitten. Right before feeding usually works better, in my experience. This MUST be done; the kitten cannot eliminate on its own, without the stimulation.

Good luck!

Hi, Alliecat. I can see why you are worried about your kitten! Is she getting her milk from her mother or are you bottle feeding her? Her mother should be able to stimulate her sufficiently to get her to eliminate. If she is not eliminating properly, you need to get her to a vet as soon as possible. Good luck with your kitten!
