KM - I live in Waikanae Beach and my sister AntipodeanMoonshadow is in Tauranga so we are six hours apart and not using the same computer. I have decided to try logging out of TDK chat on my work computer each day before going online at home and maybe that will solve some of the problem. Could it be some strange thing going on with recognising NZ IP addresses. Under the old system for replying to posts my sister has had another NZ person's email address at the bottom of her page where her's should have been.

KM, No we don't share the same computer, KapitiKats is in Kapiti and I'm in the Bay of Plenty.

KittenMaster,
When I said I couldn't get past "4", I meant I couldn't get to the last page (which in that case was "5"). Others were having the same problem.
When I clicked on latest reply, it would not go to the latest reply.
Sorry I wasn't any clearer.Posted 4 years ago by artistabobbi TX 1/17 #

Thanks everyone. I'll see if we can get to the bottom of these issues.

Kittenmaster-I've got a question. When I post something, at the bottom of my post it puts time time posted and then # EDIT. Everyone else has # REPORT at the end of their posts. Could that be why I can't start a new topic? Have I done something keeps me from doing it?

KM - AntipodeanMoonshadow and I are 6 hours apart and do not use the same computer. I will start logging out from TDK on my work computer before logging in on my home one in case that helps. Also will clear out cookies. Could it be a problem recognising NZ IP addresses as prior to the new layout Moonshadow had some one else in NZ's email address appear up at the bottom of the page after she had posted a comment where her address should have been.

M&MM: The #EDIT shouldn't keep you from starting a new thread. If you click on it, it lets you edit your post. The #REPORT appears after comments in case we need to report an inappropriate comment to Kitten Master. If you click on it, it sends an e-mail to him and he will check out the post.
To start a new thread, click on one of the six main themes Kitten Master created. That will take you to that theme's list of topics. At the top of the list, it will say "Add Topic." Click on this and you should be able to create a title for a new topic and add it. Hope this helps!

KW-I tried it again, just like you said. I put in a topic line, then went down to the message area. Then clicked on "send post" What I get is "database error" "syntax error" and all kinds of what I call computerese.
It just won't work for me!Posted 4 years ago by MaxandCali'sMom #

Also, when I post, it doesn't come up on the first page as the last person posting. Spooky-it's like I'm there....but I'm not!

M&MM - More on the #Edit and #Report. You will see #Edit on your own posts, so that you can edit them, as Kitten Whisperer said. You'll see #Report on posts created by others. I guess the idea is that you would only want to file a report about something inappropriate that someone else has posted, and that you should be the only one able to edit your own posts.

OK, gotcha Rubia. Thanks. I'll see I can post a new topic later. Don't have one right now.
Hope you're having a wonderful day!!!

On the delay in seeing comments: I've had that problem from time to time, especially when the comments are going into a new page. I've been clicking on the "RSS feed for this topic" link to see what is being posted until it starts showing up on the chat page. Eventually, the new page shows up with all the recent comments. Seems to be a recurring problem!

KittenMaster - I am still having problens on my home PC with the Daily Kitten Chat Forum page. When I open the Daily Kitten page I don't get the latest kitten and have to go to the archive to get the latest kitten. I can then login from that. But when I then click on the 'Chat' link I end up on the Daily Kitten Chat Forum page as Moonshadow NZ and it is an old page and won't refresh. I can only get the latest threads by clicking on one of the topics and it then recognises me as KapitiKats but if I then try to click on Daily Kitten Chat Forum it still takes me back to the out of date page as Moonshadow NZ. As much as I love my sister I don't want to be stuck as her!

KapitiKats: I think this is probably an issue with your Internet Service Provider: If you're using the same ISP as Moonshadow, the ISP is probably caching pages somewhere between this website and their users, leading to these mix-ups.
As such, this isn't an issue we can control - sorry.

Sorry KittenMaster, we use different ISP's.

Hi KittenMaster, I'm Moonshadow_Nz's daughter and KapitiKats in NZ's niece. I'm also a Masters student in computer science so i am trying to come to the rescue here :)
I have logged in using my username and had pages load under MoonShadow_NZ's name. There are a couple of issues with this, the biggest being that people are obviously being kept logged in even when they declare that they don't want to be and that user profile's are easily accessed by others (luckily by relations in this case, is anyone else having this trouble?).
There could be a couple of reasons for this problem occurring. The first that comes to mind is that the RSS feed isn't updating correctly. Which country are you hosting from?
The second is that your database could be corrupt (this is slightly less likely in my mind).
I'm happy to offer my help if you want me to look into the problem, but i suggest you have someone look into soon it as it is a security risk.
Have many other members had similar trouble or just NZ users?Helpful hand, Airyshone

It's only been reported by Moonshadow & KapitiKats - but I'll get TDK's resident geek on the case. Thanks Airyshone.

After a quick search on the internet I have found a plugin that fixes the logout trouble if you haven't fixed that yet.
