  1. A friend of mine contacted me yesterday and told me that layoffs are imminent at her company -- which is the same one that eliminated my job four years ago.

Could you please pray for her and for the other people in that company? Some of them are so scared.

The CEO, who just got a 32% increase to his salary (now he makes $5 million), can't understand why morale is so low.

  6. I am so sorry for this news, Emma, my prayers are with the "little people" who are being destroyed by the greed in our society. My prayers and well wishes are with you all. Hugs.

  8. Emma, the same from me, and, as Lynn said, for all the ordinary folk who are going to bear the brunt, as always. :-(

  9. Positive thoughts for your friend and less than charitable ones for the CEO.

  10. This economy crisis isn't helping anyone. It seems like the Great Depression could actually return. Of course my prayers are with the people--prayerfully asking for their jobs to be spared and this crisis to end well.

  11. Emma, I wish your friend the best of luck.

SM, it's unfortunate but true that right now, the US has many of the conditions that existed just prior to the Great Depression, esp. regarding financiers, stock market, regulation or lack thereof, and borrowing on margin.

    I'm scared.

If worse comes to absolute worst, I'm one of 4 owners of a 120 acre farm with water, woodlot, 30 arable acres, a leftover concrete slab that could become a house foundation, two small barns, and a working tractor. There's igneous rock available to build a fireplace & chimney; limestone for foundation construction. Heck, limestone for building the whole house; there's plenty of it.
