I can't believe what I did!!! My very biggest screw-up ever in the 13 years I've worked here...On Friday when putting together the commission packets for our sales staff, I got our 2 1099 employees checks in the wrong packages!!! I just got a call from one of the salesmen and said he had the other guys check..We are trying to get UPS to intercept the other package before delivery..cause if the 2nd guy seem what the 1st guy makes it's going to start the ugliest feud this company has seen in it's 50 years...I am feeling like such an idiot right now!!!! I still can't believe I did this...Oh and the 1st guy already called the President to tell him what I did before I got a chance to tell him myself!!

I hope they get to the package soon enough, 2b. Don't beat yourself up, we all make mistakes.

I hope that they can intercept this package too. People do make mistakes, some bigger than others, but that's what they are..mistakes. The first guy shouldn't have called the president first though. That seems a bit extreme. I am sorry Julie, I hope they can figure it all out. We love you!!!

What a jerk the guy was who phoned the President. I hope you can find out about a mistake he made. 2 out of 1099 is something like .0000000000000000001%
(math is not my forte) so you might point that out in your defence if the President says anything to you. Good luck. I am sorry this happened to you. -
I'm so sorry to hear this. Hopefully, you'll be given an opportunity to design corrections to the process that should prevent any future recurrence.

Oh 2B, hopefully UPS can intercept this. My mom worked for UPS a long time ago and they did ocasionally intercept packages, and back then they didn't have cell phones. I'm saying a quick prayer for you, remember we aren't robots. I know this is going to be nagging at you until it is resolved. We're all thinking of you!

Awwwww...Thank you Maddie for the hugs and kisses that is just what I needed..
Petptnr, I'm pretty sure that other than maybe disapointment, I will get no reprocusions from the boss, so I feel very lucky for that. I just would have liked to been able to tell him myself. -
oh 2BP...I am so sorry that happened to you..I agree with petpntr..what a moron to call the president...he could have just as easily called you...I hope they can call back the other envelope (but it's not your fault that pay discrepancies exist!)
If it's any consolation, my sister was okaying prospectuses for her company to be presented at their quarterly board meeting...she didn't check all the attached phone numbers (for prospective clients looking for further info) and one of them was an ADULT SERVICES HOTLINE!!!!! I kid you not; she almost had a breakdown over it, but she's still working there..(and to this day doesn't know if someone was setting her up, or it was just a transposition of numbers) -
Sweetheart, the individual who played "run to daddy" will never get the respect he would like because of that single act. What a yutz!
As for mistakes, yeah, this is one of them. So is "death by friendly fire." I prefer yours, sweetie!
For this, you are entitled to lose 2 hours sleep. And that's it.

Oh, 2b - I'm not exactly sure what a yutz is, but I'm guessing that this guy is the poster child of yutz's. An ethical person would never have gone to the president without giving you the opportunity to talk to him first. I am so sorry. But, if this is any help, when I was doing hospice I know that I made lots of mistakes and because of it... well, my patient would be the one to suffer. You have made an honest mistake but no one will die. They may try to scratch each other's eyes out, but they won't die. We all get stressed, over-worked, over-wrought and make mistakes. In the Army we knew the way to completely shut down the discussion of how and why it happened. A response of
"No excuse, Sir" just shuts it down every single time. People don't know what to do when someone actually accepts responsibility!Uh... if you're going to give up two hours of sleep, can I have them?

Feeling stupid huh!? I know how to do that really really well!My first full time job; worked as a secretary. No computers back then so when you typed something and made a mistake you had to start all over. 3-4 page document... done over about 3 times, finally went out with the bosses signature. He signed it himself.... presuming he read it.
Last line - left the 'f' out of the "night shift workers" Un huh... that was really hard to deal with at the age of 18!!!

LOL, 2p!!!!!!! Maybe that was a Freudian slip?
