Today is Chance's one year adoption anniversary. We've had our ups and downs (as Smudge will tell anyone who's listening), but I am so glad I adopted him. He is two years old now and still such a kitten at heart. I love the quiet moments when I can pet him and he gives me kisses (of course, 3 o'clock in the morning isn't always appreciated). And even though Smudge acts like she doesn't like him, she'll play with him and I think she's glad to have him around.

Thanks, everyone! I hadn't planned on getting another cat last year, but as I was in Petsmart getting Smudge some treats, I stopped to look at the kittens and cats. Chance was in the last enclosure and it was love at first sight for both of us!

Happy Anniversary Chance! Smudge and Chance sound a bit like Shaddo and Jiggs. Shaddo never showed much real affection toward Jiggs, but they hung out together a lot and Jiggs worshipped his big brudder. So many great years of seeing Shaddo act like he didn't care what Jiggs was up to. In the end, what I surmised turned out to be true; when one went to the Bridge, the other was not far behind. Very strong emotional bond.

I'll let Chance know of everyone's greetings! He gets a special toy tonight for his anniversary. He loves watching things go round and round. Smudge's poor mouse toy that goes around when it's batted is looking pretty worn out. So I bought a little circle with a ball in it that Chance can hit and then watch it go around and around. Plus, they may get some special cat food tonight that they like, but I don't get it very often because it's expensive to feed every day.

Chance has become such a sweetie. He actually came and lay on my lap last night for the first time. Smudge is tolerating him more, too, as she lets him clean her face. I always remind him to "be nice" because sometimes he gets too rough and wants to play.Posted 3 years ago by LadyKat of IA #
