I just got engaged!
My fiance (lol, will have to get used to that!) and I have been together for 7 years (on Sunday), and we had our special anniversary meal tonight. And he proposed :D.
I'm very happy and not as surprised as I'd have expected - i kinda guessed something was on his mind this evening. Not planning a wedding until after I've finished uni, so lots of time to think about it :).

Thanks everyone :). Lol at Petpntr, I had to tell someone and we're not telling family until tonight / tomorrow when we're calmer and ready to deal with calls. Well except my dad, I got my man to ask his permission (after I'd accepted, but still seemed wrong not to ask). :D
My sister got engaged too recently, she's getting married next May so I'll leave the dress excitement etc to her for now :). Dereck commisioned the ring for me before she got engaged though, he's been planning this!

Unfortunately he won't be able to come to the meet in December, since he will have just started his new job then (got the contract through on Thursday). The ring isn't finished yet, the stones haven't been set in it in case it wasn't the right size - the jeweller said that resizing it with stones in affects how they sit and can make them more likely to fall out. So currently its a simple white gold band, its going to get 2 blue sapphires and a pink saphire put into it shortly :).
And I am currently just finishing the first year of my PhD, so another 3 yrs probably until I submit. And then I'll start planning :).
So cool Metsa! I love sapphires! The bluer and darker the better! You got yourself a true keeper seems he put lots of thought into this for you!

Congratulations! That is soooo exciting! I wish you many happy years together! Victor and I were also together for 6 years when he asked me to marry him--we celebrated our 2nd wedding anniversary in April, and are just so happy together. I wish the same joy for you and your sweetie!
