Best of luck to you---you need this put into writing or you can't collect unemployment.

Arcalian,
I see PA is an employment at will state. You should stay in touch from your end to let your employer know the ball is definitely in their court as to the status of your employment. Something on the order of "If you do not schedule me for work by X, I will file unemployment because Sht4brns said go home and don't come back until called." Only use professionally PC terms.

Arcalian, I am sorry to hear of this. I can offer no advice on the situation except to say that maybe this is a way for you to move on. It doesn't sound like a good ending. Know that my prayers are with you, and that things are tough in this area right now. I wish you the best and please keep us posted. Love Mama Lynn

Instinct,
I thought you knew that if it is direct and unambiguous it is not PC.Posted 3 years ago by ailuromaniac #

Sending prayers good luck your way in finding a different job Arcalian. It has been my experience that when I was unhappy with management, co-workers or whatever it took being pressured to quit before I would leave. Then after leaving I would be so relieved and find a less stressful situation. I hope it works out this way for you.

So far no call back. The problem is this has been my job for the past six years and all the places before that were restaurants, radio shacks, places of that sort. Some of them are out of business now. And I doubt after all this my current job would be giving them any good reccomendations!

I doubt they will do much more than say "yes he worked for us". With all the regulations concerning privacy and such, companies are loath to give negative information on an employee. If you keep in touch, you show your willingness to work which will force them to either schedule you or terminate you formally. Then you collect unemployment and register with a temp agency. If they reschedule your hours, you report for duty and apply elsewhere like a mad man.

I'm sorry to hear that Arcalian. {{hugs}}
Don't know much (anything!) about US employment law, but in this country you can't give someone a bad reference - you can refuse a reference request, but you can't submit a bad one.

Oh man, I hoped they would keep you on and you could use the time to look for another job, then smack them upside the head with it.
I wish you much luck in your job search. Remember, you've got the whole TDK team right here with you with moral support.Posted 3 years ago by JoanfromNewJersey #

Arcadian - Make sure you get unused sick and vaca time etc. in your final paycheck! and since you were fired you can collect unemployment while checking out the job possiblities. Don't know where you are geographically, but computer types are in high demand down here New Orleans... I suspect we are not that different from other parts of the country. Gook luck with the job search! A six year span in one place is going to look good on your resume - you haven't been bouncing from place to place...

I'm sorry that you got terminated from the job, Arcalian. I don't know if you would qualify for Unemployment Compensation given the circumstances, but here is the website with information about that in PA: http://www.dli.state.pa.us/landi/cwp/view.asp?a=358&q=236484#what
Would this be a good time for you to add some training or further education to enhance your prospects?
Good luck! {{{hugs}}}
