  2. Oh, NAC, I didn't know/remember you are from Canada! (This is a secret but I am for Obama) ;) Please, don't tell anybody!

  3. NAC, we are having elections in New Zealand too. We have quite different names for our Parties here.

  4. Yep, Steven Harper is in again. Personally, the guy creeps me out, but at the same time I think it's a better thing than having Stephan Dion as the prime minister. He's so wishy washy.

Just out of curiosity, how much press does/did the Canadian election get in the states? Any? At least a little? I know things are pretty focused on your own right now, so I was just curious.

  5. Very little, Skirty. I've heard almost nothing about it other than a couple of articles I've read on the major news sites.

  6. Skirty, we have Republicans (John McCain) and Democrats (Barak Obama). I would like to urge all Americans on this site to examine the issues and show up on Tuesday, November 4th and vote for the candidate of your choice. Let your voice be heard and participate in the process of democracy. (Please no name calling or un fluffiness)

  7. We have election here in Finland too. (It is municipal only). Every paper, radio and TV channel is full of advertisements and info about elections. EEEEEEKKK!!!

  8. We also have the Libertarian Party, KYKAT! :-)

  10. We also have the Independant party and the Green party! I am not sure who is running in the green party but I believe Ralph Nader is an Independent.....
I am voting for Obama but don't tell anyone, it can be a touchy subject. Speaking of which, I had an obama bumper sticker on my car and someone removed it witin 3 days! Whats up with that??????

Posted 3 years ago by tinafishfrombirthplaceofElvis #

  11. Someone actually took off your bumper sticker?? I would just be so po'd that someone touched my property. Wow..everyone is entitled to their own opinion, so leave your sticker alone. That just amazes me.

  12. Haha, thanks KY, but I think it was NAC who was wondering about the candidates in the states ;)

It's funny, here in Canada it seems like we almost had more of a focus on the American election than our own, especially now that ours is over. I consider myself well read on the different candidates, and all of the stuff that's going on in the States right now.

Tina, I know what you mean. It seems people are super touchy down there right now! I have a friend who lives in Texas, and she told me that even though she's voting for Obama, she's decided not to share it with anyone, since people can be so judgmental.

  13. I second that, CM!
Everyone is entitled to their opinion. Things just seems so heated this time around, it's even spread to here.

I hear people arguing over it all the time: Obama! McCain! In my mom's restaurant the other night we had to throw out these guys because their discussion over the election got out of hand. I know both of them: they live right around the corner from me and have been Canadian citizens all their lives!

  14. We really didn't hear much at all about the Canadian elections this year. That is kind of surprising - usually we hear quite a bit, but I think that may be because we are a neighboring state. I just think it is because we have been so focused on our own elections. In addition to the Presidential vote, we usually have tons of other things to vote on too - from state and local proposals, to judges, to state representatives, to public university board trustees... sometimes it is hard to keep track of everything! I usually have to get one of those blank ballots ahead of time so I can fill in my choices and then bring it with me on voting day. Still, voting is a privilege and I always make sure that I participate.

  15. McCain!, Obama!, Tastes Great!, Less Filling! ACK! I'll be glad when its November 5 and someone has been elected. We have some tough times ahead regardless of who wins. My thought....if you don't vote, you can't bit@h about it when it's over. If you did vote then complain away...even if you voted for the guy who won. If you couldn't be bothered to get out on the 4th then shaddap about it!

  16. Actually this is probably a good place for me to ask, does anyone know how I do out of state voting? I am still registered to vote in Pennsylvania (where I lived 3 years ago/where my parents still live) and it's too late to switch over to NY so I have to vote on an absintee ballot for out of state. I can't figure out what to do or how to get it done

Posted 3 years ago by gini #

  17. Well my preferences are no secret, but this is not the place to discuss that.
Please people, really look at the issues. Don't let anyone make the decision for you and don't make it for superficial reasons. This election is about policies, not race or gender. It is between you and the ballot so there is nothing making you choose what your neighbors or friends are choosing. Do the research and get out there and vote.
    Ginirosaru
I don't know how to get the absentee ballot, but I am certain that the party headquarters in your district would be happy to help you out with that.

  18. Skirty, it was only last week that I realised you were having elections. I thought I hadn't been reading the overseas news very carefully but looking further I realised there just hadn't been any mention of it. All the attention seems to be on your neighbour to the south. No doubt you will be finding the same happening with our elections.

  19. some one in my mall said they did not think Obama was gonna make it a year with out being assaated I thouoght that i would be scared if I was him but also it has probibly crossed his mind so he is pbobliy well protected well.......... if he wins!!

Posted 3 years ago by neelaANDcharlie #

  20. Don't worry, all of the candidates are well protected. What a stupid thing to say, anyway. I must say, I can't figure out why anyone would want the job of being president. All you need to do is look at pictures of them when they start and when they leave and you can see how much it ages them. No thank you, but I'm glad that some are willing to go out there and take it on.

  21. Actually NAC I was saying that myself not to long ago! Some of Obama's plans concernign gun rights aren't gonna make him to popular is southern states since many use hunting and guns to hunt to put meat on the tbale when money is lean so his gun policy he's leaning towards just might get him in hot water. But gender or race does not rule my choices my feeling on who is the best choice versus lesser of two evils.

    Your main choices
a 70 year old cancer survive who could have a fall back and have his recession of no cancer return then we will be stuck with Palin as president and I hate to say it but I don't think she is smart enough, savvy enough or strong enough to run our country! I would vote for Hillary she has the brass balls needed for it heheheh!

Then you have Obama yes african american and younger then McCain and his running mate Biden I think will help him make good choices I just worry his new ideas and goals for guns may make him be place on someones sh*t list!

So there is much to think about and to wage when choosing a president! What is best for the country, and who you think is the most capable and strong enough to do what is necessary for our nations safety!
