OMG, my boss just walked up to me loaded with his laptop and briefcase and said to me I have just been laid off. His voice was trembling. I am so concerned about my job right now. Holy cow!!!!!

SMM, I worked for a company that laid higher ups but didn't touch those lower on the totem pole, just shuffled them around, we will pray this is what is going on with your company. {{{HUGS}}}

I know what you mean, SMM!! I went into work Friday, and the head cashier (full time) told me she had just been laid off (permanently). Of the 4 ladies in the upstairs office, 3 are going to be transferred to another dealership, and the 4th one will take over Linda's (the former head cashier) job. The other part timer and I will keep our jobs, at least for the time being. It's really getting scary out there! So many employers downsizing.
It doesn't cost a company as much for us part-timers or people from temp agencies, so maybe we'll be a little safer.Posted 3 years ago by MaxandCali'sMom #

Well, I asked the HR person to stay back after everyone left so I could ask about my job. The way it is going is my boss was a director. They laid him off and the Senior Director will take over my boss's responsibilities. The Senior Director already has a Senior Admin Assistant who has been doing the job for two years or so. The HR person said they will be re-evaluating the work load to determine if they will be needing me to stay on and will have an answer for me by October 31st. So in two weeks I will either still have a job or will be out with a four week serverance and more than likely eligible for unemployment benefits (must be approved by the California Employement Development Dept which can take up to four weeks to start paying out). In the meantime, I need to start re-opening my temp agency contacts.
Oh this so not what I need right now. Yes, a door could be closing but a window might open somewhere else..it is just the time between that is scary.

It is one day at a time for now. I am scared, upset and trying to maintain till the end of the month when they make their decision. I am thinking I will need to go to the Senior Director to discuss this but am not feeling as those he accessible right now (he had a meeting scheduled to meet with one of the Regional Managers and yesterday and chose to blow her off).
