  1. My cat Fluffy had four kittens Aug24th, they are all adorable, about 1 week ago she stopped feeding them, so we fed them and ate regularly, except for one! :( She was the runt, we named her Cruella, she can't eat! She wobbles and falls over wen she tries too, she was doing really good, but we don't know what happened! She can barely walk now, and when she does she falls over, her lips and paws and very light shade of pink almost white and her whole enitire body is freezing, we keep her wrapped in a blanket, we feed her milk through a baby bottle and even than we hav to coax her to drink it. When we are not holding her, she cries and cries and cries, and it hurts me we can barely doing anything to help her, we barely have any money, and we just got ourselves a new dog and we just paid alot of money for my puppy! she has to go for her shots today, and we cant afford to take the kitty to the vet just yet, i'm just so worried about her! :'( I want to help her but I can't, the mother refuses to help her or take care of her, my dog thinks shes a chew toy, and when i hold her my puppy is jealous! i just wnat to help the baby out! if any one has any information or ideas, please help! I'm so worried about her :( I feel so bad, if she were to die, i'd go crazy i love animals and it hurts me to know i can barely do anything to help her as of yet!

  2. Hi Sam,first of all get that baby warm. Either hold her next to your skin to warm her,put her in with her littermates or get a heating pad and cover it with a towel and put it so that she can get off it if she gets too warm. Like if she's in a box or carrier place the heating pad over only half. Get her warm first then feed her warm food. Use a eye dropper if necessary to get some wet food and fluid into her. She sounds really sick Sam,she really needs to see a vet but most important. GET HER WARM.
Let us know how you do Sam,come back with any questions.

  4. sam I misread your post, your kitten is almost 2 months old,she shouldn't be having this problem staying warm, she is likely very sick and needs to see the vet. She also needs help staying warm so help her out. When she is warmer try helping her eat some wet food and let us know how you do.

  6. We have her wrapped up in a towel and my grandmother holds her, she gets a little warmer but thats it, we are going to bring her to a vet as soon as we can i'm hoping to when I get paid but even than I'm thinking it may take too long, i might talk it over with the vet when i rbing my pup in for her shots later on... Maybe she could take a look at her and bill us later, i hope so i want this kitten better fast

We spoke to a family member about it who used to assist vets, they think it may be low blood sugar, or a worm infestation...

Thanks for the help/ideas, im just so worried about this kitten, she's also really small, about the size of my palm, she hasnt really grown since she was 4wks old :(

  8. Sam, your kitten sounds like something is making her anemic. She possibly needs some medicine for that with added antibiotics. She needs to see a vet soon. Ask your vet about it and hopefully they'll work something out with you. Good luck with your kitten, Cruella. Purrs to you both.

  9. I hope you are feeding your kittens KMR (Kitten milk replacement) and not regular cow's milk. Cat's and kittens can't digest it and it can make them sick or give them diarrhea. You can get KMR at any Walmart's or pet store. They should be getting interested in eating canned catfood by now. Mine would explore eating wet food at 6 to 8 wks. old.

  10. yea the other kittens eat normally but Cruella won't and yes we are feeding her KMR we get it at a pet store just about 2 blocks from our house, and thanks for the support, i also hope the vet will help us out here, we are just worried about the kitty :(

  11. Sam, if you don't have a heating pad, another good way to keep her warm is to wrap a towel round a hot water bottle. My feeling is that she sounds very sick and that she should see the vet as soon as possible. I suggest you ring the vet and ask if you can bring her in with the puppy. I am sure if you explain, the vet will let you pay on payday or in instalments. (She may even only charge you for one visit). If the kitten keeps taking the KMR she shouldn't get dehydrated but if she stops eating it, try to give her pedialyte with a syringe (without the needle in) or gatorade if you can't get pedialyte.

Fleas can cause anaemia in tiny kittens, can you see any on her? If so, comb her carefully with a flea comb.

You are wonderful for caring so much about her and there will be other members on later who I'm sure can help you too. You have come to the right place for help and support, as you can tell from all the great advice you've been given above by BC and Azdeb and Renee. Please keep in touch, we will worry about her and you until we hear. Take care!

  12. Thank you for the tip on the Gatorade i'll try that until i can get pedialyte, cuz we have to coax her to take the milk we'll try that, and when i phone the vet for my puppy i'll see if i can make arrangements, i don't care if i have to sell everything in my room to help her i will! I just don't want to see another kitten die! Fluffy was a kitten from her mother's Midnight's litter so we've had Fluffy since she was born,... Midnight died in April and from her 2nd litter it was winter, and we didnt have heat in the house, and she was in dining room with the babies, we kept a heater near by her with many blankets, but we couldnt keep the heater on all night, and one baby over night found its way on the floor and froze to death! I woke up and saw that i bawled my eyes out, its hard to see a kitten die! And wen midnight died i ran out of the house freaking out :( I dont Cruella to die next! its so unfair

  13. OMG JCat i just realized it, but the cat you have as your picture looks exactly like my mother's cat Bubbles! So cute!

  14. It is, Sam, it's terribly hard. I've been there, with sick little foster kittens and it's horrible. But a lot of things can go wrong with kittens and sometimes even the vets can't help them, so please don't beat yourself up if this little one doesn't make it.

Even if you have to coax her to take the KMR, it's still got much more goodness in it than the pedialyte so if you can still get it down her wee throat, without forcing it, it will be better for her. The pedialyte or gatorade is only if she refuses everything else. There is also a high-protein paste called Nutrical which you could smear a tiny bit of around her mouth or on her gums, but nothing she could choke on, no big lumps or anything. But while she is still taking the KMR, keep on with that, that's much the best.

If you have a mother cat with kittens again, a low-sided (cardboard) box is best, with bedding in it, so that the mum can just step in and out if she needs to but the babies can't fall out. And a hot water bottle wrapped in a towel (but with enough space in the box so they can all crawl off it if it gets too hot) is good for babies without a mother.

The cat in my picture was a little feral kitten when she came to me (she hid under the chest of drawers for two days!), she is called Libby and she is a little tiger -- I love her very much. Your mother's cat, Bubbles, sounds beautiful too -- I love the silver tabbies. Take care!

  15. KK, thank you loads, but if Cruella dont make it, ill just stay in my room a couple days listen to music chill out but *shakes head* im not going to think negatively! She's gunna make it! And my mom got Bubbles from a home who couldnt keep her any more, she was 3 wen my mom got her and she's turning 4 soon, she's a wonderful cat ! And just so adorable, seeing that pic makes me want to go to my mom's house and play with Bubbles lol

  16. Well, we'll all be pulling for her too, Sam. Please let us know how it goes at the vet!

Posted 3 years ago by jcat #

  17. Sam, since you're already bringing the dog in for shots, I would definitely take the little one as well...I think you'd be surprised how awfully sympathetic vets can be when they see a pet that needs help...at the very least, they can either delay payment, or set up some kind of installment plan for you..it never hurts to ask...I'll be thinking of you and little Cruella..please keep us posted!

  18. And just a wee suggestion, have you thought about having Fluffy spayed, when you can afford it? Childbirth is always a slightly risky time, for both cats and people. I hope you don't mind me suggesting.

Posted 3 years ago by jcat #

  19. Yeah i'm going to try bringing her, and JCat Fluffy has had two litters, the first tme we brought her to the vet, they couldnt spay her bcuz she was pregnant, so that money was spent on the kittens until we could save up again, once we did she got pregnant again... so right now we're trying to keep away from any male cats until we can spay her

Posted 3 years ago by Sam #

  20. They're the devil for getting out when they're in a *romantic" mood. We have had the occasional 'accident' like that at the shelter where I help out too... You think a kitty's too young to be spayed/neutered and... oops!

Posted 3 years ago by jcat #

  21. Please keep her warm, hydrated, and get her to the vet right away. Her symptoms are very serious; I'm afraid she may not make it if you don't take her in right away. Any time a kitten of her age stops eating, drinking, pooping or peeing it's a bad thing - and the longer they've stopped doing any of these things, the more sick they get and the faster they can die.

  22. She seems anemic; please try to get her to the vet as soon as possible. Sending you warm, positive thoughts, Sam.

  23. As for spaying, the local humane society should have a low-cost clinic for that--sometimes even free. Please have momma spayed ASAP!

  24. Sam, did you get kitty to the vet? How is she doing?

Posted 3 years ago by jcat #

  25. i'm holding her right now, we inquired about Cruella, and it'll be over $100 my friend has offered to help pay the bill so within the next 3 days she's gunna b going to the vet, though she is doing a bit better since last night, we are taking good care of her and hoping we can get her there soon

Posted 3 years ago by Sam #

  26. If Cruella's not eating, every couple of hours she needs to have some Nutrical (or equivalent) smeared on her gums. Also, Pedialyte is a children's rehydration fluid; it's highly recommended to help keep a kitten hydrated. An eyedropper would be the preferred way to get fluid in.

You might find that a mix of 25% baby meat food (turkey or lamb are good), 25% high-quality canned food, and 50% Pedialyte will work well, if she's not eating at all. Again, an eyedropper is the way to administer the food. Only a few drops at a time, making sure that she can swallow properly. And warm the mix to body temperature; that way, her body doesn't have to spend extra energy to warm the food in her digestive tract prior to digestion.

Keep her warm; keep her hydrated and fed. Keep track of how much you feed (both food & liquid), and keep track of her peeing & pooping. If she's not producing urine or feces, help her out with genital stimulation. (A warm, damp washcloth gently rubbed in a circular direction on her genitals and anus should help do the trick.) Also keep track of her general energy level; how much she's sleeping, vs. how much the other kittens are sleeping.

Cuddle her when she seems to indicate a need for attention, and don't isolate her from her siblings or mama if you don't have to. If she's not sleeping in a lump of kitties, but off by herself, you'll want to keep her warm when she's sleeping.

Good luck! Hope you can get her to the vet soonest!!

  27. we brought her to the vet and she was taking medicine it cost a lot and it was for nothing, she passed away yesterday morning !!!!!! ='( I'm really sad, maybe if i took her the vet earlier...

Posted 3 years ago by Sam #

  28. I'm so sorry Cruella didn't make it, Sam. It is so hard to lose a furbaby! Please don't go into the "what ifs." Some kittens just don't make it no matter how much care is given.

Posted 3 years ago by Kitten Whisperer #

  29. yeah but its really sad we were going to keep her we said that wen she was born :( and we're still paying the vet bill for her i'm just really upset im the one that discovered her dead :(

Posted 3 years ago by Sam #

  30. Cruella did know love in her short life, Sam. She was also safe with you and your family. You made a huge difference in the quality of her life and you should be proud of that.
