I like Chocolate in my coffee! Tastes yummmmmy! Homecoming today for Cuddle's owner! We've been up since 9am (very early for a 17 yr old on a Sat.) and are headed out to get "hair" done. Hubby and I negotiated a reasonable curfew, and are hosting a sleep over after the dance. I'll be exhausted tomorrow, cause you know I won't sleep until all are in and safe. But --- these years pass so quickly, and she's my baby - going off to college next summer. Well, let's not get sentimental - my other babies Abby and Cuddles are exactly sure what's going on. Too much activity, too early, too many clothes on the floor ( she tried on about 15 outfits before the final selection was made!! ). I'm trying to train Abby to take a bike ride with me. I have this basket on the front, that her mesh carrier sits in purrrrrfectly. Since she is so trusing of me, and does well on just about any car or plane trip, I though - why not try a bike ride. We live one block from the water, and the ride down by the Bayshore is so beautiful. I think I'll give it a shot this afternoon while the girls are getting dresses. Am I crazy???!!!

Tell her to enjoy her homecoming. Ours was last week. My daughter had the most beautiful dress. Unfortunately due to MRSA she not only didn't get to play during half-time but she didn't get to go to the dance. These things fly by so fast and it is wonderful when they can enjoy the events. I am glad she realizes the gravity of her illness, but it does nothing but break a Mom's heart hearing those quiet sobs into her pillow.

Enjoy this time with your daughter, AV! I hope she enjoys her evening and that you get some sleep tonight!! :)
SM, I've seen ads locally from time to time for prom dances for adults. It seems like a lovely idea to me. A chance to relive a wonderful evening or to have a wonderful evening if you missed your prom the first time around. I know there is no way to make up for your daughter's heartbreak. She has been through so much lately and I know you have hurt right along with her.
I like your idea of making s'mores--I have many happy memories from my days as a girl scout--singing around campfires at night, learning how to cook in a dutch oven over a fire, learning how to tie useful knots, swimming, observing wildlife. :D Here's a picture of s'more making: http://cottagedaily.com/wp-content/uploads/2007/08/shutterstock_1611432.jpg

Oh,KW, that brings back happy memories! I grew up in the Bronx, so they took us on an overnite bustrip to a park upstate New York to go camping...we did the sing-along at campfire, s'mores, the scary stories late at night...many many years ago, but I still look back on the weekend fondly!
