  1. Good morning, all - brunch is ready at the cafe!

My boys have an open window each to enjoy and I'm getting ready to go see a friend I'm going to dog-sit for and get the key and instructions. It seems she spoke her friend down the street who owes me $275 for dog-sitting and my friend told me to swing by there today to get paid (after 5-6 weeks!). I really need the money so I hope she does pay me today!
I still have no clue how I'm going to live on working 17.5 hours at the gym now. The worst part is that supposedly it was XBF who told DQ that she could cut my hours (by more than half!) since I don't really need the job!!!

  2. Hmmmmm, guess noone is hungry this morning....

  4. Hi GD! Quiet around here today.

I sure hope you get paid today, it's no fair of people to keep you waiting. Oh, and a pox on XBF if he told your boss it was OK to cut your hours. You really need to get away from that crazy gym.

I'm afraid I have to post and run, but not before I give Bobby and Milo a head scritch apiece

  5. Hi GD and Kilroy!
Scritches to Bobby and Mi and George!!!
GD, that is so wrong what they did to you at the gym and how dare XBF even tell them that, he is insane, he should know better. I would give him such a smack!

  7. Hi Chey!!
Good here too. We are just trying to clean up the house. We bought a new vacuum so hubby is vacuuming the whole house..I am not complaining. Then he has to clean up more of the basement, once that is cleared out, we can move the junk from the room the baby is going to use and clean up that room so we can move the baby stuff in there. So much to do, so little time.

  8. Hi peeps! It's an election day so I have to do a little walk in the rainy outdoors. Wish me good luck and good sense in picking the right candidate.

  9. Hi CM and Chey! Oh joy for cleaning house.

Georgie was being funny last night and this morning; we went to visit hubby's sister yesterday, and her cat was all over hubby (another cat that loves him and not me!), and when we got home George went nuts sniffing at hubby's sweatshirt. Hubby finally tossed it on the floor and George curled up on it. This morning he was sniffing around the spot on the floor where the sweatshirt had been. He must be wondering where the new kitty is :)

  10. Bobby and Mi thank everyone for the scritches. Bobby needed some scritches as he just got scared. A neighbor just walked past on the other side of the bushes as he was in the window - he got scared, crouched, did a little growl and ran away (Bobby, not the neighbor!).

Kilroy, as much as I want to get away from the gym, I really wanted to stay on there for a bit and make money as I got the tennis accessory business going and looked into other options, as well. I can't survive on $700.00 a month!
There is so much gossip, back stabbing and general ill will around the gym, it's hard to know who to trust. I haven't asked XBF directly if he did indeed tell DQ that it was okay to cut my hours, but I think he just may have. Whatever he thought he was doing, he should have asked me first and I'm beyond angry with him at this point. He came by the other afternoon and I refused to talk to him. My new boss reminded me I'm supposed to be nice, but I told her no way. The two of us got in trouble this last week for not being "perky" enough. I'm always friendly to our customers and I daresay they all like me and most stop by to chat and all so apparently they don't have a problem with my non-perkiness. I told New Boss there is no way I'm going to become some ditzy blonde-ish perky person just to keep my job there. I can't stand fake people (the gym is full of them and XBF is really good at it, too) and I refuse to become one of them.

But anyway, it's Sunday and I'm off, so yay! It looks as if I have five days of tennis in a row starting tomorrow so I'll enjoy that. I'll be off all day Tuesday and Wednesday from the gym and hope I can run to a club or two with my friends' son, get that experience under my belt and then start selling by myself.

  11. Hi Miu!!! Good luck and stay dry! We know you will choose the best person :)
Aww Georgie wanted a new playmate...lol..I think your hubby must be a cat magnet.

  12. Awwww, Georgie!

CM, I'm planning on cleaning up my place now that I'll have more time on my hands. With less work, I'll be home more, so I'd better fix the place up a bit!

  13. Hang in there, GD. Sounds like you're doing the right things.

Hubby and I have to go to the annual meeting for our co-op today; it's the first time I get to go, since now I live here "officially". They have raffles and stuff to try to get people to attend, and last year we won a $100 gift certificate, so maybe we'll get lucky again. Then we have tickets for a play this afternoon. Oh, and I was good and got to the gym again today, that makes every other day for 2 whole weeks (whoo hoo, I know).

Anyway, I'll try to check in here and there.

  14. sounds like a busy day Kilroy. I like those though. I hate sitting on my butt, which by the way is growing with my stomach...lol
GD, Hopefully things will take off for you in other areas and you won't need the gym at all. I hate when they tell you to be perky. What are you a cheerleader. I would tell them to bite me. :)

  15. Have fun, Kilroy!

I wanted to switch my gym membership to L.A. Fitness just down the street, where they are offering $35.00/month memberships right now. They have a pool and I was hoping to get to swim several times a week. I haven't been to my gym in a few months now because I can't do much with tendinitis in both achilles which is why I figure swimming would be a good idea.
I'm going to cancel my membership to the new gym and see if I can afford to join L.A. Fitness instead.

  16. CM, I've gotten periously close to telling them just that! Some of the male trainers make fun of DQ and DTG and crack us up, but those are the only laughs we're getting these days. They are renovating and just moved their office to right behind our front desk, so now thay can keep an eye on us all day long - groan!

Posted 3 years ago by GreatDane #

  17. I'll have to run and meet my friend that I'm dog-sitting for. I'll be back in a little bit - and hopefully with a check from the other lady as well.

Posted 3 years ago by GreatDane #

  18. Okay, I'm back - is it time for lunch?

I got the key from my friend and then when we were outside the other woman drove by and told me to come down. She paid me $185.00 which was nice, because I was kind of thinking I wouldn't get paid at all. She's a hair dresser at a nice salon and my other friend works at the salon as a receptionist. The two of them had been wanting to give my "A Day of Beauty" as they put it, so that's what we're going to do to make up for the difference and I don't mind. I'm going to go in there and get my hair cut, colored, highlighted, and get my eyebrows done as well. I'm ooking forward to it. I've been wanting to cut my hair, but have had such bad luck with hair dressers lately, I've just given up.
Hopefully this "Day of Beauty" will make me look nice for then tennis selling business.
The other great thing is that the two of them have been giving out my cards at the salon and I'm more than likely to pick up some more dog-sitting. I'm going to raise my rates a bit and also make sure I always get at least half up front. I'm also going to tell them that I'll do dog walking for people as well, to make a bit extra.
I'm dog-sitting from today to Tuesday, from 10/31 - 11/2 and from 11/1 to 11/17, so that sould help a bit. With the holidays coming up, I hope to pick up even more.

So what's for lunch? I have crackers and smoked fish dip that I was planning on eating and I'll share. Mi is very excited about this - Bobby is sleeping under the bed!

Posted 3 years ago by GreatDane #

  19. Hmmmm, I'm speaking to myself it seems - and not much fish dip left....

  20. Cut your hair??? Not short???? But a new haircut can be...err...exciting!

Hope you're feeling better, GD! I'm going to try and venture into my sewing room and see if I can't get a few things done. I seem to be a bit short on energy these days :-(

Posted 3 years ago by WillowandWindismom #

  21. WWM, where have you been??? And how come no energy?

I'm not cutting it short - I need to be able to have a pony tail for tennis. It's just getting really long and I have a LOT of hair and in Florida's heat and humidity, it gets really hot. I just need something new so this is a great opportunity to give it a try. It seems no matter what I tell a hair dresser, I always leave with the same hair style. It also helps that I'll be seeing this hair dresser again and again when I watch her dogs, so she's going to be very careful not to screw up :)

  22. Oh, I've been sick for the last week. I think that I've had the flu. Yucky!!!

That will be fun to have a sort of new haircut!

Posted 3 years ago by WillowandWindismom #

  23. Oh, and I'm feeling much better. It was weird - I felt so sick for about a day and a half, had a fever and everything and then it sort of just went away. Whenever I get a cold, it last for at least a month, so I don't know what the heck this was. It wasn't allergies, because I got the fever, sore throat etc. I get with a cold and the allergy meds didn't do anything to alleviate the symptoms. I thought maybe it was the flu because of the body aches and nausea, but that would have lasted more than a day and a half, though, right?
Anyway, I'm still a bit sniffly and tired, but otherwise feeling pretty good.

Posted 3 years ago by GreatDane #

  24. Oooh, yuck, WWM! Did the girls take good care of you?
I'm hoping the haircut will be kind of fun - nothing crazy, but just something to liven me up a bit instead of weighing me down. Mi will be upset - he loves to attack and chew on my long hair!

Posted 3 years ago by GreatDane #

  25. Oh, yes - the flue lasts more than a day! I have been sick for an entire week now. To show you how bad it was, Mr. WWM said that there was no way I could go to the gym and I agreed! It's lots better now but I'm just tired all of the time. That and a cough that doesn't seem to want to go away.

Well, I think that I'm off to sew for a little bit. Give the boys a snuggle for me!

Posted 3 years ago by WillowandWindismom #

  26. Hi, GD, CM and WWM! Is this where those recovering from colds are meeting? Good, I'm still trying to recover from mine. Talk about an energy zapper!!
