The first snow flakes fall and the car troubles begin already. Guess it's my turn now Owlwatcher ;)
Last week at lunch time my car wouldn't start. Wouldn't turn over, just clicking but I jumped it and it started. Today the same thing happened but I couldn't get it jumped. I've had both the starter, the battery and the alternator replaced within the last 6months so now I'm not sure what it could be. Granted I'm a little leery about the work that has been done it because after they replaced my alternator my cruize control stopped working and it had been fine before that. Guess I'm going to have to get it towed and hope it doesn't cost an arm and leg because I don't have much. Keep your fingers crossed for me.

Fingers crossed!!! Do you have someone trust worthy to look at it!! The starter, battery and alternator should still be under warrenty!!! Only other thing that might give you a clicking sound is if the timing belt is off..but let's hope not!! Or possibly bad spark plugs not firing!!!

We had to take a battery back one time. It was still under warranty, so we just traded for another one.

It could be a bad ground wire or something else in the wiring.

Thanks everyone. I'm hoping I can at least fiddle around and get it jumped again so I don't have to tow it. It's just weird because the radio, lights and widows still work. Also threw in a bottle of heat just in case. I've requested repair dates and warranty info from the last shop so I have more info to tell the new person so maybe I'll finally get a straight answer? I had been taking it back to the place I bought it from thinking a little loyalty would get me better service but I guess not.
Thanks HLB! I fell in love with the breed long ago, not only for the looks, but they have amazing temperment too. Had he not been a birthday gift I would have ended up adopting again. -
If you have green/white sandy gunk forming around one of the battery terminals remove it by pouring hot water over it to dissolve it and wash it away. Gives you a better connection then.

Oh Ama, my prayers and thoughts are with you. I wish I knew more about cars to help you.

AMA58873, my first thoughts were either a broken/intermittent ground or a gunky buildup at the battery terminals. I know that as an American male, I should be able to fix all automotive problems, but I guess it is time to end that stereotype.

AMA I hope your car troubles end quickly.
Ivory Bill--went to a driving inservice for the schools since I am a sponsor for an activity, I was told that I would have to learn how to check fluid levels and lug nuts because it was obvious that my husband does it for me. I laughed at him--my hubby doesn't do JACK with my car. When we married he said due to deployments I needed to learn how to take care of things myself in case he wasn't there to take care of me. Now don't get me wrong, my husband is wonderful and will spoil me rotten, but not until he knew I could take care of myself and our child. You are right the stereotypes don't fit anymore!
