  1. When I started my Tribute Memorial website it never occurred to me that I would be so affected by the loss of someone else's pet. For the past 2 months I have been working closely with a lady who had a 16 year old cat Bubby. I got to know the woman and Bubby very well. Bubby had cancer and has been hanging on by a thread for weeks now. Everyday I dread opening my email and seeing something from Bubbys mom to announce he has passed. She is a very religious woman who has had her priests and everyone in her church and various prayer groups praying for poor Bubby and kept me in the loop. Today that email came. Part of the service I provide for customers is to send out a notification to their email list if they request it. I have been sitting here all afternoon crying about Bubby. I guess part of the reason is because I am reliving losing my Bijou last January and I can relate to how Bubbys mom is feeling. The website was the result of Bijou passing and me wanting to help others dealing with pet loss. Now I need help. I have never reacted with quite this much emotion before and I am sure it will pass soon. At least I pray it will but I needed to unload this. Thank you for giving me the place to do it.

  2. Hugs to you. I know very well at the moment the awful pain of losing a belvoed animal. And caring about Bubby of course means you'll mourn him as well as be reminded of your darling Bijou. The emotion is natural, don't be ashamed or scared of it, just cry and let it out, it's natural and will help you. And you can always share here. (((hugs)))

  3. Petpntr; this shows you are a human and you care. Let those tears flow, we here cry with you and Bubby's person. I send my prayers for Bubby. I want to believe he is now happy and healthy and frolicking at the Rainbow Bridge.

    Believe me, we all understand. I frequently tear up when I learn that someone on TDK has lost a beloved pet.

    Allow yourself to grieve.

  7. Petpntr, it is so kind and caring for you to want to help those who have lost a furbaby. It can be very emotional for all involved. An attachment was formed thru this relationship and it should only be natural to feel the loss also. I lost my beloved Pete 4 months ago today and I remember visiting your site and how it helped me.

  8. Petpntr,you cry because you are a compassionate,caring person who recently lost a well loved cat and it's bringing back memories. Also grief is a variable amount of time for everyone and everything so take as long as you need in those feelings to remember your wonderful companion. If you're having trouble yourself with prolonged sadness it might be a sign that you may need to take a break from the tribute memorial or a less active role how ever that would be.
    I know speaking of myself that there are many things that I would love to be able to do because of my background like becoming a guardian ad litem or SANE nurse(sexual abuse nurse examiner) but I just can't. It would take too much out of me so I would be possibly hurting myself(my relationships,my job,etc) by doing it. I have to look at my limitations in this area. I HATE being limited though. ;) As I've gotten older I've begun to realize that I do have limitations even though I've always been a "can do" kind of person. Sorry to ramble,I don't know how much of this pertains to you though,I'm just trying to help. :)

  10. Whether the pet is yours or someone elses, you had a relationship and now have to work through grief. Every student that passes through my room I develop a relationship of some sort. When something horrible happens to them I come home and cry for hours. You love your job, as I loved mine, and you develop relationships. When you care joy and grief are unavoidable, just know that because you care you will help Bubby's family through a rough time. Prayers of peace and comfort to you.

    Feel free to cry and vent and talk about Bubby. It's so sad. I know I shed tears when someone on this site loses a furbaby. I lost my Bastian 3 years ago and I remember the pain and cry all over again for her when someone loses their baby since I know that pain and loss. It's natural and it shows you are a person of compassion and caring. Hugs to you and your friend with the loss of Bubby.

  12. Sending you lots of hugs, petpntr. Each time I read about the passing of someone's cat, I shed some tears. I guess it is the compassion in us that feels the pain of the loss of that person's beloved pet. Also, deep down it reminds us of when we lost our own beloved pet and how we felt. it is human to feel this way and I send you many hugs and purrs.

  14. It is never easy on us humans when a loved kitty goes to the bridge. It is a tribute to Bubby's aura or character or something that so many people care about him. Godspeed, Bubby.

  15. WOW!!! I was not expecting quite this. You guys are unbelievable. I want to give all of you a (((cyber hug))) back. You can't know how much reading your comments has meant. It brings me great joy to know that I have helped someone through the loss of a pet and I get emails all the time thanking me for that. I had one lady write to me that her little girl cried every day over their family dog that passed on. She said it wasn't until the little girl saw the candle and the dogs picture on the Yellow Brick Road that she was sure her dog was in heaven and the crying stopped. Comments like those make everything worthwhile. This was an exceptional case because I became so involved. Bubbys Mom ordered Bubbys memorial candles 2 months ago in anticipation of his passing. Then she teetered not knowing whether or not she wanted me to send them to her while he was still surviving or not. We have gone back and forth almost every day since the order went through. The candles are to bring comfort like they did for me when I made one for Bijou and the last thing I wanted was to have her dread receiving them. What if they arrived and Bubby died the next day? I didn't think the candles would be very comforting to her then since they had a 2008 date on them. She could possibly even blame their arrival on his ultimate passing. The conversations went back and forth and we developed not only a business relationship but a long distance friendship as well. So now you know a little more and perhaps you can appreciate how very much each and every one of you have helped me today. If any of you are interested in seeing Bubby's Memorial you can check it out here. He looks like Jymberrys baby.

    Bubby is such a beautiful kitty. I visited his memorial tribute site and left a message in Rose's guest book. It's always so painful to lose those we love so dearly.

  25. For Renee's husband, another thread has been started to let our members know about Renee. To say that we are in shock would be an understatement. I have left this message for you on the other thread, but in case you should check this one I am reposting it here. I simply don't know what to say - I feel so very, very sad at such news of a special friend.

    To Renee's husband, if you should see this. Please accept my most heartfelt sympathy. As you can see, we are all at a loss for words. Although most of us have never met each other in person, there is a deep love and affection between our members. Renee is a member of our family, and we all loved her and loved talking to her. We had no idea that there was a problem, health or otherwise. If you would feel like sharing with a community that cared deeply for Renee, we are here and would like to help.

  26. Dear Grieving Husband,
    I am so very saddened to hear about Renee. We both became members about the same time and I always, always enjoyed, admired and totally related to all the many things she shared with us all for the past year. I can only imagine how very broken hearted you are at her loss. Renee brought so many smiles, giggles and even some tears to us but never complained of her wellness or lack thereof. I will miss her so much. You and the kitties are in my prayers. {{{Hugs Grieving Husband}}}
