Marzipan loves marzipan (ground almonds, powdered sugar, corn syrup). Anyone else have a cat with an unusual palate?

Our Duffer loves cheddar cheese Quakes(rice cakes), and powdered or glazed doughnuts. Of course I only buy them for her...... ;)

I love HB's description of Kree eating anything that doesn't eat her first. I had a cat that loved cooked peas. Didn't matter if they were fresh, out of a can or frozen. She would go crazy for them. Then I had another cat that was really a character. He always knew when I brought in those merangues(?). You know those things that are made with egg whites and sugar. He would go nuts trying to get to them while they were still in the bag.

Mac goes crazy for fresh spinach leaves, and for (kitty) bite sized pieces of fresh carrot - go figure? My Meezer kitty (over the bridge now) used to love bite size pieces of fresh pineapple, fresh canteloupe, fresh apple, and watermelon - he was a definite fruit lover! Grommie, on the other hand, is strictly a carnivore and proud of it - she likes anything that is meat, specifically beef, pork, chicken or lamb, thank you very much ;-)

One of our cats loved eating whole mushrooms in brine, but had to fight the dog off for them. The dog loved cinnamon sweets like redhots. Shadz is quite limited in her likes and dislikes and very traditional likes at that.

HAHAHAHA! These are great! I didn't realize our little obligate carnivores had such wide-ranging taste! I'm definitely going to start offering Marzipan some fruit and veggies (minus the onion and nightshade family plants, of course) since so many of you have cats that enjoy them!

sad part is she does! I have to fight her for my food!! She gets her little fee tup there and tries to tip the plate!...eating dinner and constantly pushing kitty feet out of my plate!..she will also go behind me on the sofa and try and scoup things up really quick and run with them! lol

LOL it is amazing what they will eat. My male, Salty, he'll eat just about anything. Probably the weirdest thing he eats is olives (green usually, but he likes black ones too.)
I had a cat many years ago that used to eat anything, too... and I mean anything! She was always beggin' me for stuff, so one morning I had some grapefruit, which is something I don't eat a whole lot of cuz I gotta really be in the mood for it. Well anyway, I threw a tiny piece on the floor for her, thinking, she ain't gonna like *this* lol... wow, I was wrong, she ate that and came running back for more, pawing at my hands, lol... I even sqeezed some juice on a plate and she lapped that up pretty quickly, lol... After that I would always get a grapefruit once in a while just for her :)
I had to laugh at the vet's office when I had Gabby there for her spa visit... the vet assistant had said that they put some sweet stuff on her incision, I believe cherry-flavored. And I was like, "Uhh, what's that for?" and she said, "Well, cats don't like sweet stuff, so it acts as a deterrent so she doesn't lick too much at the surgery site." So I was very quick to correct her, lol, cuz I'm like, "Uhhh, well tell that to my other cat, Salty! Cuz he LOVES ice cream!!! He always licks the bowl when I'm done eating ice cream!" She didn't have a whole lot to say about that, just had quite the look of shock on her face lol (she's a dog owner herself so she only knows about cats what is taught in a textbook, apparently, lol... such a fool, heh heh!!!)
I have given Salty other sweet stuff too, like a little cool whip and other stuff... chocolate (just a teeny tiny amount on my finger cuz I know it's not good for them) peanut butter, caramel... he loves it all!!! :) But the ice cream thing is funny, cuz he just *knows* when you're eating ice cream. He's right there when we pull it out of the freezer, lol... and he sits there and stares a hole through you as you're eating, and every couple of spoonfuls, he'll put his paws on your leg or on the edge of the chair and kinda paw up at the air as if to say, "gimme!" or "aren't you done *yet*?!" lol... what a moocher, hehe... last night at dinner (we had lasagna! yum!) he was beggin me for a handout before I even sat down with my plate, and I'm like, "Well, there's plenty there... go fix yourself a plate!" He didn't want any *that* badly, LMAO :D

Let's see, my Riesling steals Smarties and Tootsie Pops (fortunatly can't figure out how to unwrap them yet, so perhaps he steals them because they crinkle). He also begs for tap water. They normally get filtered water because our water quality doesn't seem to be the best, but he always begs at the bathroom sink for me to turn it on a bit so he can get a quick sip and splash water everywhere.
As for Fiona, she really only begs for mozarella cheese. She's the princess type though, so it might just be "beneath her" to beg for anything else.Posted 3 years ago by RoseViente #

Let's see, my Squint loves peanut butter, mayo, ice cream, bananas, corn flakes--that's all I can think of at the moment. I was eating ice cream just recently and put a tiny amount in a separate bowl for Squint. He was not interested in his own bowl, he wanted what was in MY bowl. :)
