  1. Hi Miu!!!
Glad you had a wonderful sleep!!! It's about time :)
How are you and how's our Finnish kitties today?

  2. Hi Miu! LOL - Sound like you are the only one who had a good night's sleep! ;-)

  3. I'm back. Got my coffee, opened the gym and there's barely a soul here, so I figured I'd pop back on. Seems I just picked up a dog-sitting client, too. I was chatting with one of the independent trainers and his client and mentioned dog-sitting last night. The lady got all excited and asked if I would watch her dog for a week. I told her sure and gave her my card. She lives a bit far away, but I'll charge her a bit extra and see if she agrees - my prices are so low anyway.
The trainer was surprised that I dog-sit and scolded me for not letting him know, since he'd be able to get me some jobs, too, he says. So maybe getting up early to go to work this morning will prove to be worth it!

A friend of mine sells things on E-Bay and goes garage sale shopping every Saturday morning and as we speak (type?) she's out there hunting down a tv for me - I'm keeping my fingers crossed!

  4. GD, that's wonderful if you can get more dog sitting jobs, maybe you can get enough to leave the gym.
I hope your friend gets you a TV. Got to have one of those for sure!

Posted 3 years ago by cricketsmama #

  5. GD - That's great that you might pick up some more dog-sitting jobs! Good luck with the TV!

  6. Leaving the gym would be SO great, CM!!!

Since my boss quit yesterday, they asked me to work 2-9 again and I turned them down. I said I'd like to work 4:30 - 9:00 every day (right now I'm working those hrs. three days a week and 8-1 on Saturdays). If I can do that, it'll give me enough to pay my bills and I can make extra with dog-sitting and hopefully the tennis business once I get that up and running.
XBF mentioned a job working with him in a company he's setting up - it would be 40-50 hrs. a week and great pay, but I don't think I'm going to take it. After working with him at the gym, I don't really trust him anymore and I really don't want to go back to working 9-5 again and having to quit playing tennis on my day teams. I also don't want to end up feeling like I owe him anything for getting me the job.

  7. Yay, GD, that sounds like real potential on the dog-sitting front. Are there any other trainers there who don't know that you dog-sit? maybe you could send out a wee memo... :-)

And hope you get a telly too, we are all telly addicts in my family!

Posted 3 years ago by jcat #

  8. Also, if I take that job, I wouldn't be able to do the tennis business at all. Even if I can't make a living off it, I still want to give it a try and work on some connections and work with something I like.

I'm not sure what'll happen at the gym, but I AM reasonable sure they'll go out of business sooner or later now. Since I refused the 2-9 shift, they may hire someone who will cover the whole shift and just let me go - I'll just wait and see.
I'm supposed to come to work at 4:30 on Monday, but since my boss won't be here, I don't know who's going to cover until I get in. The morning guy usually just works 6-9 and the two nights I'm off. Noone has told me to come in early or anything, so I don't know what their plan is or if they have even thought that far.

  9. I'm hoping for a tv, too, JCat, CM and Rubia. I mentioned to Old Boss yesterday that mine broke and he said he thought he might have an extra I could have or borrow and that he'd call me in the evening and let me know. He never did call me, so I'm thinking he probably doesn't - though he IS one of the most forgetful people I know!
JCat, it really hadn't occured to me that some people don't know that I dog-sit, so I really should let people know, hand out cards, etc. If I start charging more, I should be able to do pretty well.

  10. And think about putting a small ad in the local paper, if you haven't already... leave a wee stack of cards at vets' offices... you might be surprised at the demand...:-)

  11. Morning all! My my, everyone is up early this am! I must be getting lazy! Hubby and daughter left early (around 7am -golf for one, beach for the other); Abby and I just rolled right over and unbelievely went back sound asleep!! Felt good! I'm hungary ... need to go see what's in the fridge!! Coffee, yes definitely coffee and "scritches" with Abbs. We'll start there...

Posted 3 years ago by AV #

  12. Hi AV! What is that like to roll over and go back to sleep. Oh that sounds wonderful. sigh...probably won't do that for another 20 years.

Posted 3 years ago by cricketsmama #

  13. Surprized the heck out of me!! Hope it happens more than once in the next 20!!! LOL

Posted 3 years ago by AV #

  14. Hello everyone! Its good to be back home! Spent all of Friday and overnight in the hospital with food poisoning. Feeling much better now though, especially since I'm home :). Any mild fruit tea and quiet kitties in the cafe today?

Posted 3 years ago by metsa #

  15. Hi Metsa!! OMG food poisoning???? I am glad you are much better. How awful for you.
*gives Metsa some tea and 3 purring cuddly kitties*

Posted 3 years ago by cricketsmama #

  16. Metsa! How awful. I hope you are feeling better now. GD, my vet lets people advertise for dog and cat sitting. I would check with some area vets to see if they would let you advertise.

Well, I'm off to the Lakeshore, time to cover the sailboat and other items at the marina. Sigh, that means winter really is on the way... I'll have some nice hot chocolate tonight when I get home. And an extra hour of sleep - Yay!

Posted 3 years ago by NNGM #

  17. Food poisoning! How awful, esp if you had to be hospitalized for it! I hope you're feeling better Metsa!
Good luck on the pet-sitting front,GD...I would have no idea what to charge for all the extra stuff you do, but I know it means alot to people to keep their animals home instead of a kennel if they're away, esp if they need meds and such..
Just having some coffee, black...Buster made a disgusting mess in the litterbox and promptly fell into it...poop and litter from head to tail..so my morning started off with giving him a bath....Mark says he's gonna start calling him "Shake and Bake" cause he looks like a breaded cutlet...hahahaha

Posted 3 years ago by sullis #

  18. lol @ shake and bake!

Posted 3 years ago by cricketsmama #

  19. Yeh much better now, nearly back to normal. managed to eat solid food for the first time since Thursday lunchtime :). Had to have a drip and things, took them 3 goes to get it in too :(. But its all ok now. Might even manage to get along to the jewellers and get my engagement ring finished today :). Hope poor Maddie is better now too! And hope the boat covering goes well NNGM, definately very autumnal here now too.

Posted 3 years ago by metsa #

  20. oh yuck! I can't stomach needles; faint at even the suggestion of one, never mind sticking in a drip..I hope the trip to the jewellers will make you feel much better!!!

Posted 3 years ago by sullis #

  21. CM have you been able to get an appointment for Maddie? I hope that it is nothing too serious. I think I am just paranoid when a kid is sick now. It is normal for kids to be sick--they share germs. I am just overly cautious because of the stuff with my daughter.

Posted 3 years ago by SoxsMom #

  22. Glad you are okay now Metsa. Food poisoning is not fun.
How fun, getting your ring done!! That's exciting. I hope you are able to go.
We have an appt with the dr. at 11:20 today so we shall see what they say.

Posted 3 years ago by cricketsmama #

  23. Yay for getting an appt...it's always so hard to get someone to see you on a Saturday...

Posted 3 years ago by sullis #

  24. CM: Miska has been extra naughty. He is so sweet to me, has stopped nibbling all together, but he haunts all the other kitties. Especially Misu and Juuei are under his terror. :(

Posted 3 years ago by miu #

  25. Miska! Stop picking on your brother and sister!!!

We are off to take Maddie to the Dr. Will let you know what they say..she is acting fine now..no fever..

Posted 3 years ago by cricketsmama #

  26. Morning, Everyone! I'm just popping by on my way to the kitchen. It's waffle day for us!

I'll be anxious to hear what the doctor says about Maddie, CM. If it's an eye infection they really need to be considering tubes. Poor baby!

Metsa, I hope you're better. Bland diet today! I've had food poisoning a few times and that is just awful. Do you know what you ate and where you ate it?

Posted 3 years ago by WillowandWindismom #

  27. Hope Maddie gets better soon... Metsa - food poision is no fun at all!! I've had it, takes a lot out of you. Last time I had a terrible bout with it, my doctor put me on a good probiotic - really helped me recover quickly. I won't start my day without it, it really keeps my digestive system well.

Posted 3 years ago by AV #

  28. Anybody else having leftover Halloween candy for breakfast? yummy...

Posted 3 years ago by sullis #

  29. Waiting to hear news from Maddie! Metsa, take care of yourself!

Posted 3 years ago by miu #

  30. I'm up much earlier than I expected to be, but I dont think I'll be making it back to sleep. Was up til 2 with some friends, and was semi awake until I got the text that everyone was home safe. My doorbell started ringing a little after 7, and my (hung-over) boyfriend is home. So needless to say, I'm awake.
