  9. Yeah, she can disapear for days in her room ... she really is a great girl ... made a 1280 on her SAT and got accepted into the college she really wanted to go to ... UCF. It's just that, I don't know... I thought I'd thought I would have a more close relationship with my daughter than my Mom and I. My mom was great, but so pristine... I've tried so hard to be more accepting and open ... I guess every generation has difficulties...I'm so not perfect, and I am totally open about that... I'd hope she would appreciate that, but she is so indifferent.. I don;t know...

  10. it is the barn that makes noise. With the cow, horse, pig, sheep and goat..of course she adds all her little people in there as well...lol

We are trying to work on her speech since she is not saying words as clearly as her Dr. would like her to. We understand her but she does need help, so we are hoping she doesn't need any type of therapy. Hopefully her words will kick in and she will be fine...I feel like a bad mother.

  11. Hi everyone. Just a quick check in. Been gone a while. I was sick and I almost lost two of my kitties. We are all on the mend and I wanted use to see our new addition, Athena Emiily Rose. I have wanted one for so long...
I'm so glad Maddie is better. Make sure you complete all her antibiotics, Strep is not totally erradicated with a partial course alone.
Abbigaleviolet, I know what you mean. My boys are now 13 and 15 and suddenly my husband and I jhave "no knowledge"; I've been told we may regain some when they are 21! Boy, we have a ways to go!

  12. They are supposed to be like that AV so we can stand to let them go off to create their own life. If they didn't drive us crazy we wouldn't be able to send them out into the world. As it is I plan on shedding rivers if not oceans of tears on that day!

  13. Hi Tigerlilly! Athena is beautiful!!!! I love her.
I always finish antibiotics, if they say take for 10 days, then that's the case. I am very anal about that.

In time it will change, My Mom and I were not close! I was a Daddy's girl! My Dad died when I was 24, I was married and had 2 kids. when I left my ex(10 years later)I went to my Moms she welcomed me and 3 kids with opened arms. It was hard at first but then we became best friends. I took care of her for the last 2 years of her life(And I would do it again)! When she died I lost my best friend!

  17. CM you are not a bad MOM!!! By the way my daughter didn't talk until she was almost 3. She would say the occassional word at home, but wouldn't make a peep at daycare. Then they were worried about moving her to the next room because she didn't speak. About that time I was in my room with kids when I got buzzed by the office to get to my daughter quickly! I was scared she was hurt. She wasn't. She had drawn a picture--blue crayon on blue paper I still have it--and when asked about it by her teacher she looked up and said, "It is a brachiosaurus can't you see that!" She was very clear and spoke in a sentence. They were blown away! She was 6 weeks from her 3rd birthday. Then everyone noticed when she spoke she had a Boston accent and didn't pronounce her r's. Found out 4 years later it was because of her slight hearing loss. It seems to work out for them eventually. Don't you worry and just keep playing! She might not hold the memories--but you will and you will cherish them!

  18. Thanks you guys!! Jill is really beautiful and I lknow she and I will re-connect; it's just frustrating right now!!! 3kits - you truly give me hope, because I know that as she gets older, she will appreciate our relationship more... love to everyone tonight... I have to sign off, got to work some before the "week" starts!!

  19. It is worth it CM!

  20. Sweet dreams AV!

Posted 3 years ago by SoxsMom #

  21. I hope so SM. I stay at home with her and I worry that I don't enforce her words enough. She understands us and like I said, we understand what she says...some is clear like hi, bye, momma, bubba(for Fred), ball..but others...it's partial words. Her friend who is 3 months younger speaks so clearly and concise. I just worry.

  22. Bye AV!!!
My mother and I didn't have a good relationship either growing up and she actually sent me to California when I was 15 to live with my brother and his family. It was awful. I didn't get close to her till I moved back here when I was about 24. She was one of my best friends and I took care of her the last years of her life and I wouldn't change it.

Posted 3 years ago by cricketsmama #

  23. SM, that is priceless. I can just see her teacher's face when that little girl said, "It is a brachiosaurus..." Didn't I read somewhere that Einstein did the same thing? didn't speak at all as a kid and then spoke in complete sentences?

If I were you, I would stay with your daughter too. She has been through so much lately (and so have you).

  26. My oldest son didn't even talk at age 2 and 1/2. I had him tested and he had developmentally delays. He went to a special preschool and was in special education classes till he was 21. Now I wish I had never taught him to talk, he's the one who can push my buttons. he's 26 now and still lives at home but he works a full time job and is actually trying to get his licenses, he has his 5 hour course next Saturday. see they do grow up!

  28. night CM, give Maddie a hug from me!

Posted 3 years ago by 4 kits staff #

  29. MOONSHADOW!!! how are you my friend?

Posted 3 years ago by 4 kits staff #

  30. Sorry I missed you, CM and AV!

CM, I hope you see this later. If your doctor has some concerns about Maddie's speech, she may qualify for free testing and speech therapy through your local school district. Please contact the school district so that the issue can be addressed early rather than later. It's easier to deal with at a younger age.
