Susie!!!*waves* I know what you mean about gloom!! It actually rained down here!!! but we were happy to see it, since we haven't had a drop in Riverside in over 8 months!! I like the idea of glow-in-the-dark strips for the kitties...I don't think they would agree though!!!LOL

GD, great that your old boss is going to give you a TV. I echo what TigerLilly mentioned, that whatever the old boss's wife thinks you owe has been long paid back. I hope you are able to ask her to pay you a reasonable amount to watch over the animals and household as well as drive the daughter around. Gas is still expensive even with the little price drop (gas in my area is between $2.87 and $3.11 a gallon and that is premium) and what with you car not being conservative on gas, I think it is only fair they at least pay you $30-50 a day especially if you stay over. I really hate it when they take advantage of you.
CM, glad to hear Miss Maddie is feeling a little better.
Kilroy, nice to hear that Georgie isn't biting you and is actually being a good boy.It was a nice rainy weekend and we are suppose to get more rain today.
I had a nice weekend. Saturday was my stay at home and sleep. Unfortunately my neighbors were making noise and woke me up 7:45am and then the stupid property manager was in the office chatting with some friend about herself. Boy does she talk loud! I wanted to go down and ask her to lower her voice but felt if I did that she would retaliate in some other form or manner). I had to turn on my defuser (white noise) machine in order to be able to take an nap in the afternoon. I spent Sunday meeting up with LV to go to a CFA (Cat Fancier's Assoc) show. It was an interesting experience. I saw cats that I haven't ever seen before. I liked the Singapore breed, the Mau breed, and a couple of others. There were some vendors with cat toys so I bought two small little pillows with catnip inside. When I got home later, I gave them to my kitties and Sylvester went nuts. He attacked the catnip pillow and bunny kicked it too. I have a short video of him with it. It took an hour and 40 minutes to drive home when should have only taken 50 minutes due to an over turned car accident where someone died. They had closed off three of the four lane highway. It occurred about an hour before I got on the highway and the traffic was a mess. Really sad.
Off to an hour long meeting and then will hopefully start on the training on the new system.

Hi SMM! Awww Sylvester loved his pillow :)
How fun the CFA sounds. I would just be beside myself with all those kitties :)
Gas actually isn't as much here thank goodness. We dropped down to about 2.09 a gallon and some places are 1.95 or so. Still pricey but better than 3.00-4.00 a gallon.Posted 3 years ago by cricketsmama #

Wow, CM..a $1.95! In my area I do not think we will ever see below $2.00 ever again. The lowest I could find was $2.39 at a costco in the San Jose area and that is regular gas. With my car I could get away with plus gas but I do premium because it is a V6 and a newer car. I am getting around 27 miles to the gallon on average. If I fill up on a Monday and do not go on any long distance driving, it lasts me till the following Tuesday. So I am spending approximately $200 a month on gas plus $90 on tolls. If I could take public transportation, I would save $174 a month. Problem is there too many connections so my commute time could possible double or even triple. Time equals money. If I didn't have to have a car I could save a lot more (car payment and car insurance).

SMM, my hubby works 25 miles away, so he travels 50 miles a day, and sometimes in nightmare traffic. He could also take public transportation but as you said, commute time would be horrendous. We do the cheapest gas..we do have older cars one's 1997 and paid off but over 100,000 miles and that's what he drives to work and then we have a 2003 SUV and that's the one I drive but only when I have to so I can save on gas.

Joke for the day - got this from a friend of mine:
If you had purchased $1,000 of shares in Delta Airlines one year ago, you will have $49.00 today. If you had purchased $1,000 shares of AIG one year ago, you would have $33.00 today. If you purchased $1,000 shares of Lehman Bros. one year ago, you would have $0.00 today! But, if you had purchased $1,000 worth of beer one year ago, drank all the beer, then turned in the aluminum cans for a recycling refund, you would receive $214.00. Based on the above, the best current investment plan is to drink heavily and recycle. It's called the

Hi people! Gas here right now is between $2.55 and $2.69 in the cheaper stations. I'm relieved it's gotten more affordable.
I have a feeling DQ quit earlier today - she had a meeting with Big Boss and walked away around 4:00 - she never leaves that early. I also saw some keys left on her desk in the back office. As much as I didn't care for her, this comes at a bad time. She had promised to reduce my hours starting next Monday. If she leaves, EBL is going to hold me to the 2-9 shift I told her I'd do. Arrrgh!

Wow, GD, never a dull moment at the Gym! Hope things work out for you. Hold your ground on your hours. I would suggest that if EBL wants you to take on responsibilities, you would need your wages increased. Give her an amount you know she wouldn't increase to such as say $3.00/hr increase. Don't do this of course if you would rather just work the hours you mentioned. Good luck!

$1.93? WOW! We are at $2.29 here and we think it's great. Unfortunately I drive an SUV (I have to haul large items so it's either that or a truck) so I really appreciate the lower prices. At least I don't need to drive over to the lakeshore this time of year so my gas consumption goes way down. I wonder if the home heating bills will be lower than expected? (Probably not)

"As the Gym Turns!" What a crazy workplace! I will be more than happy when you announce you are out of there!!!

It's absolutely ridiculous!!! Four people quit last week - so far we're up to one this week!
EBL is absolutely delighted. She's gotten rid of 4 people she didn't like. I know she doesn't care for me either and that she's pretending to be nice now because we don't have anyone else for the front desk. As soon as we do, she'll try to get rid of me again. Their MO is to make people miserable enough to quit so they don't have to fire them - seems to work well!I doubt I'll be able to work just evenings now that EBL is back in full control, so chances are I'll quit on Monday. I'll keep you all posted!
-
I hope you do quit on Monday (if not sooner). This is not a healthy work environment. These people are crazy!!!!!!!!!!

They are, KW! And I know about the unhealthy work environment from working for an Ex at the tennis center. I thought that was bad, but this is far worse. At least I loved the work at the tennis center but the job at the gym has no redeeming qualities whatsoever - well, except for the paychecks, but even those leave something to be desired.
Because they ARE crazy, I'm not quitting till I have the next check in the bank - I don't trust them one bit.
-
Be sure to cash the check right away, GD!!!
