  3. Sorry, I won't apologise for liking Velveeta. As far as I'm concerned, it's the only way to do grilled cheese. Ummmm,....warm, melty....one of my favorite ways to use it, is melt it, mix in a can of mushroom soup, and pour over a steamed combination of broccoli, water chestnuts, and carrots. Pop in oven for a bit. Now, that's comfort food.

  4. Right there with ya Paulajeanne it makes the bestest grilled cheese sandwiches and chili dip in my opinion.

  14. Also remember that Velveeta is a crucial ingredient in an AUTHENTIC Philly Cheese Steak. Once you've had the real thing (I used to get 'em in Clearwater, FL--winter home of the Phillies), nothing else will do!

  15. wait i thought philly cheese steak had white cheese like monterey jack or swiss?

Posted 4 years ago by Momma to 2 MaineCoons #

  16. Found this one and am seriously tempted to try, chicken, rice, broccoli and cheese how can ya go wrong!

    Cheesy Chicken Simmer

    Prep Time: 10 min
    Total Time: 30 min
    Makes: 4 servings

    2 tsp. oil
4 small boneless skinless chicken breast halves (1 lb.)
    2 cups frozen broccoli florets
    1 can (10-3/4 oz.) 98% fat-free reduced-sodium condensed cream of chicken soup
1/4 lb. (4 oz.) VELVEETA Made With 2% Milk Reduced Fat Pasteurized Prepared Cheese Product, cut up
2 cups instant brown rice, prepared as directed on package

HEAT oil in large nonstick skillet on medium-high heat. Add chicken; cook 7 min., turning after 3-1/2 min.
ADD broccoli; stir. Stir in soup and VELVEETA until well blended. Reduce heat to medium; simmer 7 min. or until chicken is cooked through (170ºF).
    SERVE over the rice.

  17. Sorry, Ginny, the best cheesesteaks can be found in Dublin, OH at Benny's Cheesesteaks www.bennyscheesesteak.com

And the best ones are made with Provolone cheese, not Velvetta, but it's OK, you like amaretto sours and Wallace and Gromit so I can forgive you this one character flaw

Posted 4 years ago by Instinct #

  18. As much as I like cheese and as much as I like steak - I cannot STAND Philly cheesesteaks. There's just something about it. Then again, I'm not a big sammich eater to begin with.

Posted 4 years ago by HuddysMama #

  19. In truth, I'm not a big sammie fan, either. There are a few exceptions, though: Philly cheesesteaks, meatball subs, a patty melt from a "mom and pop" diner, the "black [angus] and bleu" at Quiznos, and a BLT on white with only the slightest hint of lettuce and home-grown tomatoes. Those make me drool!

Posted 4 years ago by gatakitty #

  20. That last one makes ME drool,Ginny! I get the scent of home in my nostrils just thinking about a BLT with bits of lettuce, heirloom tomato, and Hellman's Mayonnaise on Wonder-Bread!!

Posted 4 years ago by Tigger #

  21. Wonder Bread!! Tigerpaw, I expect better out of you - wonder bread... mutter, mutter....

And HM, it's just a character flaw. Almost everyone has one - except for me :D

Posted 4 years ago by Instinct #

  22. Instinct, will you quitcherbitchin' if we substitute "WhiteWheat"? ;-D (must be the earache, pobrecito.)

What's the matter with Wonder Bread anyway? It was a "Tantalus" object for me; I saw the ads all the time on TV, but it wasn't sold in my hometown. All that denial as a child has me STILL wanting it as an adult!

  23. wow, Ginny, they sympathy is just flowing out of you :D

Posted 4 years ago by Instinct #

  24. I know where sympathy can be found......my older sister told me about it before she died. ;)

Posted 4 years ago by HuddysMama #

  25. In the dictionary I bet

Posted 4 years ago by Instinct #

  26. You may be hurtin', but you haven't lost your edge, I see!

Posted 4 years ago by gatakitty #

  27. WHERE in the dictionary?

Posted 4 years ago by HuddysMama #

  28. My Oxford American (isn't THAT an oxymoron?) Dictionary has it on p. 823, between "sympathize" and "symphonic."

Posted 4 years ago by gatakitty #

  29. Well that's the clean version anyway.

Posted 4 years ago by HuddysMama #

  30. Close enouh for government work I guess :)
