   Can someone tell me why cats like being under the covers? I first thought it was a warmth thing, but in the middle of the summer, my cat wants to go into the cave, as it were.

   Cats do as they want, some like to be hidden under covers, other hate it!!! But they will do as they feel..and us humans should learn to accept it!!lol

   Most of mine do the same thing, and 2 of them have long hair so it cannot be a warmth thing. Funnier is that they take turns going into the cave, hang out, leave, NEXT... LOL

   My cats like to be under the covers, specialy when I am in the bed. I wonder if its the scent (mine? i hope) that they enjoy :)

   Cats seem to like dark places to hide. And I think they feel protected there. My cats love to run and play under the covers when I'm changing the bed. Needless to say, it takes a while to get the bed all done!

   Some of mine like to be under the covers when it is chilly out and some hate it under the covers at anytime.

    I think some cats like being under the covers because it reminds them of being happy, safe & warm with their littermates, snuggled up to Mama kitty. I think the warmth, physical contact, and scent which make them like being under the covers.
