  1. Well, I was just washing up some things, and I found a hairline crack on the bottom of the ceramic dish for the slow cooker. My bloke loves the slow cooker and it was a gift, so does anyone know how we can fix it? I would have to be safe for using for cooking still.

  2. I don't know if it is possible to seal a ceramic dish with a hairline crack, Metsa. Maybe the manufacturer sells replacement dishes.

  3. Truthfully, I would get another slow cooker. You can find them very reasonalbe at Target or Walmart or the like. Once dishes crack, they become dangerous to cook with, but they also collect bacteria and germs in crevices. I'd be safe rather than sorry.

  5. Hmm, thats what I was fearing :(. Its not so much the cost - we've actually noticed well priced, better sized ones recently - its more that it was a gift from his family. And when they visit they'll wonder where its gone... Oh well.

  7. tell them you loved it so much that you used it to death, and that you had to replace it. they should appretiate that it was used and loved so much

  8. Worth checking out if the place that sold it or the manufacturer sells replacements. I would give it a go! Otherwise, what TKN said; they should be pleased!

  9. If you know someone that has a kiln, you could ask them to glaze the crack with ceramic glaze that is food safe and fire it in a kiln. Or if there is one of those pottery paint places that has kilns, you could go there and glaze the crack and have it fired in the kiln.

  14. Repair or replacement would probably cost more than a new pot. Have you seen what they cahrge for a replacement coffee carafe? $18! You can buy a whole coffemaker for that.
