  1. It's 5 am and I am up. ick. We got Maddie to sleep in her bed, then after an hour, she woke up crying and really freaking out. So Wayne went in trying to calm her down and she got so worked up that he got frustrated and came back to bed. She was still crying. So I went and held her, calmed her down, and just let her sleep on the couch with me. We all needed some sleep so I did what I had to do. Well, needless to say, I haven't had much sleep, but I plan to be in bed most of the day anyway, so when Wayne and Maddie get up, I can sleep :)
I think I will call the Dr today to see if she might have any insight or if she can suggest something that can help.

The cafe is full of kitties, a buffet filled with bacon, ham, sausage, chorizo, country fried steak, potatoes, pancakes, waffles, cinnamon buns, coffee, juices and tea. come and get it :)

  2. Oh, CM, I thought you were posting early. I'm so sorry about Maddie's night terrors. It's probably a good idea to talk to the doc, could be a combination of all that's gone on recently, with her meds and being sick and you falling. It does sound like the poor wee thing's having nightmares of some sort.

I know you are not looking forward to bedrest but it might be a good thing for today, at any rate!

  3. Ooh, and I would like fresh OJ, mushrooms, tomatoes and loads of crispy bacon please, and several little kitties to mush my face into...

Posted 3 years ago by jcat #

  4. Hi jcat!!
*OJ, mushrooms, tomatoes, and lots of bacon to jcat. 4 smoosh faces baby kittes run to jcat and climb on her lap*

Today bedrest is ideal :) At least Wayne will have some sleep so he should be in a better frame of mind. We are all just so tired, Maddie included, with this outburst of night terrors.

  5. Thank you, CM, this looks really nummy. Awww, I love little kitties who climb on my lap. I don't even mind the needle claw marks because they're so adorable when they do that.

Do you know yet whether Wayne is going to be able to do some work from home?

  6. He talked to his boss yesterday and his boss is really great to work for he give A LOT of leeway for things. So we figure we will do it by ear..a day to day thing. My MIL said she could watch Maddie a few days a week when needed and Wayne was thinking of going in 1/2 days, in the afternoon when Maddie is napping so I would only have couple hours that I would really have to watch her. So it's a day by day basis. Tomorrow he is going in half day, today he is taking off..I am also not one to stay in bed all day, I go crazy, so everyday will have to see how I feel as well.

  7. He sounds like a really great boss, that sounds like it could work well. It's really lovely that you get on so well with your MIL. A couple of my married friends sadly get on really badly with theirs, but if you have a good support network, it really helps!

  8. My MIL is awesome jcat. I can't even tell you what she has done for us. She is wonderful. My mom used to tell me horror stories about her 1st MIL. I am glad I don't have to deal with that. I am like the daughter she never had so we swap recipes and talk girl stuff and it's great.

Posted 3 years ago by cricketsmama #

  9. That's so fantastic. I know how much you miss your own mum so I'm very glad you have someone who can help with all the girly stuff. I am dreading the day I lose my parents, I just can't bear the thought of it, but you know it's going to come some day. My dad is in his 80s and my Mum in her 70s but luckily they are both still in really good health. But I still rely on them both so much!

Posted 3 years ago by jcat #

  10. It's nice you still have both your parents, that is a blessing. I lost my dad when I was 7, so 32 years ago and mom last year, so I feel like an orphan..weird feeling.

Posted 3 years ago by cricketsmama #

  11. CM, I'm so sorry that you lost your dad so early. And I know that losing your mum was terrible for you. I am, I really am lucky to still have them both. I think they would have made wonderful grandparents but sadly it doesn't look like that's going to happen...

So what have you got planned for your bedrest, apart from napping? Think of all the books you can get read! Now that would be nice.

Posted 3 years ago by jcat #

  12. I love to read too! I don't have any new books that I can dig into though. I do re-read my old ones. I plan to take my laptop upstairs and be on TDK :)

Posted 3 years ago by cricketsmama #

  13. Do you have a good library where you are? You could send Wayne off with a big list and precise instructions, lol. What kind of authors do you like? If we like the same kind, I could send recommendations. (Although, since I proofread for my day job, I tend to just look at magazines at night now, isn't that terrible?)

Posted 3 years ago by jcat #

  14. Being on TDK all day, now that would be fun. Maddie could play beside your bed and I bet you get kitty visitors enjoying the bedrest too!

Posted 3 years ago by jcat #

  15. I like mysteries and I like detective stories..I also like books about the era of Queen Elizabeth I.
I know I will have kitty visitors too :)

  16. Ooh, ooh, we're all nuts over crime writing in my family too. Do you like Ian Rankin? He's one of my absolute favourite writers and they're all set in Edinburgh! And I really like books by Nicci French -- it's a husband and wife team (Nicci somebody and Sean French) and they're usually from a woman in danger's point of view. They're set in different bits of England. And Minette Walters is another English crime writer I like! And I quite like the Donna Leon murder mysteries set in Venice; you get a nice sense of the city!

  17. Books about QEI, hmmmm, I don't know if I know any of those... I will keep an eye out... Rose Tremain wrote a good story set in Paris, quite a challenging one, called 'The Way I Found Her', about a teenage boy who sets out to find an older woman who's been kidnapped. I liked it because it was set all around the area where I used to live.

My parents are quite nuts over a Scandinavian crime writer at the moment -- I'll have to get the name off them. I haven't read them but I would like to. You've probably read David Guterson's Snow Falling on Cedars, I guess, that came out years ago but it's a lovely book.

Posted 3 years ago by jcat #

  18. I can honestly say I have never heard of those authors. I have to check them out. I love when they are set in England!!! I have quite a few books on QEI :)

Posted 3 years ago by cricketsmama #

  19. Oh, CM, oh, you HAVE to try them. If libraries in the States don't have them, or Amazon, let me know and I will try to get you copies here. They might have to be 2nd-hand copies, would you mind?

Posted 3 years ago by jcat #

  20. oh heck no jcat...second hand are just as good. :) I appreciate the offer. I will have to get to the library soon. It's been a while. I never have time to read anymore.

Posted 3 years ago by cricketsmama #

  21. Well, I'll keep an eye out. That's the good thing about libraries -- well, over here, anyway, they usually have a good selection of up-to-date crime fiction.

Posted 3 years ago by jcat #

  22. I actually started re-reading Little Women yesterday :) I had to wait at the dr's so I thought, what the heck, it's been years.

Posted 3 years ago by cricketsmama #

  23. Oh, CM, I love that book. Read it so many times... and the sad bits still always make me cry!

Posted 3 years ago by Renee in Arkansas #

  25. Hi Ron. How are you this morning?
The net is wonderful, especially how you can read a book over it :)

jcat, I had never read the book then I saw the movie when it came out in the 90's and I cried and cried...so I had to read the book then. Loved it.

Posted 3 years ago by cricketsmama #

  26. Hi, Ron, can we offer you a virtual cup of coffee? I'm pretty fond of the classics, especially the children's classics!

CM, that was a really nice movie. It had Susan Sarandon in it, didn't it -- and Winona Ryder I think? Anyway, it was lovely. And I still LOVE the Little House on the Prairie books, even after what television did to them!

Posted 3 years ago by jcat #

  27. I used to love those books too! I used to read and read the Little House in the Big Woods. I haven't read those in so long. Sigh...good memories. My mom was an avid reader and got me hooked at an early age. I hope my girls are readers too.
