Hey, I might acutally have time to eat outside of my hotel this evening. Any suggestions for fun (and good) places to eat that are characteristic of Atlanta? I love BBQ in Oakland (with sweet potato pie) and I and thinking about ham today -- must be heavily sleep deprived!

For good Southern food downtown, you should go to Mary Mac's Tea Room on Ponce de Leon Ave. near Piedmont. Food like Grandma used to make. :)

Hi Elizabeth! I agree with Bell that the best place in Atlanta for authentic Southern food is Mary Mac's tea room. Unfortunately, Tuesday I leave to go out of town! Normally my Mondays are pretty dead but tomorrow I have a doctor's appointment and a closing later at 3 pm, then have to get back to pack up to go out of town. If anything changes I'll let you know.
