  1. And this is WITH her collar and bell on...

  2. Hmmm, stalking Shadz with a camera sounds like a dangerous past time but I just may have to try it sometime. She normally hides or curls up and goes to sleep when she sees me with the camera or sits on something dark so you can make her out from the background. At least I know how to get any pictures I do get from the camera to the puter, Airy showed me before she left NZ and I'm just sending her some pictures of Nana with her new blue leg cast.

  3. Poor Nana, how's she doing?

  4. MS, HRH is incognito and she doesn't want you to blow her cover! Mine always look away so all I see is their backsides.

  5. jcat, she was just showing you how to 'hunt' and that if push comes to shove, she could help provide for the family :)

  6. Mum is getting used to being less active a bit more now, I think her second fall off the computer chair has put paid to her F1 tendencies, at least I hope so. Between me, my brother and mums neighbour we seem to have most things covered.
Jcat, what sort of bird did Libby ahem er dispatch?

  7. What's an F1 tendency? Am I being dense again?

Deb, I would like to think so, but usually she doesn't share, she just goes ahead and eats them. Nonetheless, if the economic situation gets any worse, it may come to that, lol. She can feed Jasper and I will eat apples off my trees...

MS, it was one of those little yellow headed silvereyes? waxeyes? It breaks my heart when she does that. I understand they're Australian imports, not native, and not in any danger ecologically speaking but they're so pretty and small. Thank goodness she hasn't managed to catch a fantail, that would truly break my heart. I am torn at loving both kitties and birdlife!

  8. Shadz had a wonderful day today. All the heavy machinery in the gully below us has gone and she didn't have to worry about the noise or shaking ground. She even came in and hopped up on my lap at the puter this afternoon while I was TDKing, and it's been quite some time since I've had that pleasure. She is very relaxed tonight and has gone back into the bean bag after ignoring it for many weeks.

  9. I am doing Libby wrong, she does actually usually bring them into the house and call me but then I scream and chase her out again... But when I get up there are also little dismembered creatures on the doorstep...

  10. MS, good for everyone that the heavy machinery is gone, maybe all of you can relax now and they won't ruin anymore of your trees.

jcat, do love the pic of your furbaby.

  11. Aw, don't you love it when they hop onto your lap? Libby does it very seldom and I always feel it's a great honour. So did the heavy machinery workers leave the rest of your trees intact, MS? What are they building down there?

  12. Would that be a goldfinch Jcat. Thankfully Shadz has never caught a fantail either but I 'talk' to them when I'm at the clothesline and they come down and dart around me.I'll have to look in Mum's NZ bird book. F1 is Formula 1 racing, Lewis Hamilton etc. I love watching F1 and A1GP racing and when Bathurst is on I lose a weekend. Love the sound of those screaming engines. The girls and I used to stay up late or even wake up at ungodly hours to watch F1 before Sky got it. If Mr MS was away at the time then it was the three of us girls in my bed watching together,(and Shadz)

  13. Aw, thanks Deb! She is a love when she wants to be...

  14. We still have 2/3 of the tree left, on the day Mr MS's father passed away they scalped the ground under the tree on our property so a rather irate Mr MS leapt down the bank and had a chat to the digger driver. He apologised and said he was only doing what he had been told so Mr MS said 'yeah sorry mate I understand'. He came in and rang the earthworks firm and was put on to the manager and explained that he wasn't pleased about the boundary infractions and don't let them happen again. I think they got the message. They have built the floor of the gully up from a swamp and are building pole houses sometime in the future. Probably depends on what the housing market is doing I'd say.

  15. Hhmmm, it might be a goldfinch, I don't know. They have yellow under their wings as well. Fantails are wonderful, aren't they? So chatty and lovely to watch.

Lol at the visual of your mum, making like Lewis Hamilton on the computer chair. *Immediately followed by profound sense of guilt, hangs head.* But your poor Mum, I hope she doesn't fall off anything else, I shouldn't be laughing at all, sorry.

MS, so you and your girls are all petrolheads at heart. Well, I never. Flowers and exhaust fumes -- you are an intriguing woman!

  16. You would think they must have the money to develop if they are still going ahead with the earthworks, but they might find it hard to move the houses when they are built. Pole houses sound nice but I don't think I would want to buy in swampy ground in an ex gully -- seems to me all the storm water in the area would end up in your garden if not lapping at your doorstep...

  17. Thankfully we are above the gully and the bottom of our property is getting a massive retaining wall built against it. Saves us a small fortune. I wouldn't want to buy one of those houses, we've been watching the hundreds of trucks of fill come in and the spreading and rolling that goes on but not nearly enough compacting for our liking. It's after midnight so time I was heading off to bed. I'm sleeping in Airy's room tonight because I really don't want this flu(he has all the sore muscles etc) that Mr MS has.
Goodnight Deb and Jcat, back tomorrow if I get the time.

  18. Night, MS, sleep well, sweet dreams! Hope Mr MS feels better soon, and that Airy and Jim Man are settling into their new home!
