  4. See ya later, GD!

I have great news, everyone; I have an INTERVIEW on Friday afternoon! Please cross your fingers for luck - I need some good luck to come my way! This job would pay me enough that I wouldn't have to look for a second job, and it would come with good benefits and a 4-day work week. I'd love to have a job soon, the better to continue providing my kitties with cat food, litter, and vet care.

    Wish me luck!

  5. Best of luck Ann!!! Do keep us posted. I cannot imagine being out of work for so long. The thought frightens me !

  6. GD... You may want to check this out. On the petco web site, under pet services, there is site where you can list your services in your area, for pet sitting/dog walking, etc. It's sittercity.com . I entered my zip code, and found many that live within a few miles of my house. Good to know if I should need those services.

  9. Gini, I'd rather not post my location, but if you have the Christmas card list, I'm on there.

  10. Praying for Ann and wishing good luck!

  11. Thank you, 2P and Ginirosaru! And yes... being out of work for so long has been frightening, especially with the economy getting worse daily. Especially locally... large local employers will probably lay off more than 2,000 people sometime before Christmas.

  12. Thank you, Miu!

  13. NYC-TDKr's - start walking west (uh, till you hit water, then take the nearest bridge or tunnel) and I'll start walking east. We can have lunch somewhere on Route 46...

  14. Ohh, you are very close Kilroy! Perhaps some day if you have some free time we could meet up for lunch or something. I need more friends in this city! haha.

  15. Good luck Anncetera! I hope you get it. A four day work week sounds really good to me. That is on my wishlist at work

  16. Hi, Everyone! I have been off running errands. Had to get my hair cut today. Fortunately I still have hair! Some days, if my friend who cuts my hair is having a bad day, I am apt to leave with very short hair!

My day started out great. Windi actually jumped into my lap when I was reading the paper and stayed there purring the whole time. Maybe there's hope that I will have a lap kitty after all! Willow sat with us last night and watched Dancing With the Stars. I think that she likes the sequins...

  17. WWM, sounds like Willow likes the sparkly bits!

Thanks, SMM! I'd really like to have the 4 days/week (possible telecommuting available at times). It would be 37.5 hours/week with only 4 days... so it'd be about the same number of hours I was doing at my last job, but only 4 days per week instead of 5 days.

I just want the chance to become a valuable asset for them, that's all.

  18. Sweet little Feeny cracks me up. I just came in from doing errands and he did his usual "meowww?? ow ow ow owwww?" as I walk in the front door (it sounds like he's asking meow as a question). Then he jumped backwards, ran to his toy mouse, and came back to drop it at my feet like he is a proud hunter. I called him a good boy, picked up his toy, and gave him a chin scritch and he pounced on my hand where the mouse now was and stole it right out of my hand and walked away tail held high!!

  19. good luck Ann! Sending you lots of good positive thoughs!

  20. Just a quick drop in, in between all my running around...Best wishes Ann, hope to hear some good news from you soon.

Posted 3 years ago by Tigerlilly #

  21. Okay popping back in for a sec then out the door again! I was watching and giving Max time to explore alone but he did a big no no! Walked counter again! SO he's locked up like the criminal he is in his playpen! Tsk tsk! Will the boy ever learn!?

  22. Gini, he was showing you his treasure, didn't want you to take it from him...

Hey there everyone, just woke up being in the middle of a puddle of kits....too warm for that..

  23. That is so cute Gini! Taco..good boy! LOL!!

WWM, that is great on Windi becoming a purring lap cat.

Anncetera, I worked one job where they gave us the option to work a 9/80 schedule. It meant that we worked a five day work week with working four 10 hour days and one 8 hour day and the next week we worked a four 10 hour day and had Friday off. So every other Friday was a day off. I really liked that as I could get anything that wasn't open after 5pm accomplished such as doctor appointments and not have to try to make up time or take a Saturday getting the car tuned up. I wish I could have that or the four day work week at my current employer. I don't know if it is even possible at my job but it is something to ask about sometime in 2009 or 2010.

Posted 3 years ago by SylMiaFelixsMomma #

  24. I worked 9/80 at American Airlines. Every other Friday I'd go to the airport and just GO somewhere. I loved it, but the pay was for crap.

Posted 3 years ago by HuddysMama #

  25. SMM, I would kill to do a 4 day week. Half the time I am here 10 hours anyway so staying later wouldn't bother me a bit. Unfortunately we aren't structured like that. I can't complain as I can flex my hours to cover Doctor's appointments and leaving early on some Fridays.

    Posted 3 years ago by KYKAT 12 23 #

  26. Kykat, if I had a doctor's appt, I had to make up the time. Now my old boss always was working late so almost never got to go home early even close to Christmas. Only when he was out of the office traveling was when I got to go home early. Last year on Christmas eve when everyone left by 2pm, my boss was still working and didn't allow me to leave early. Now that my old boss is gone and I have the Senior Manager as my new boss, hopefully I will get to go home early as we get closer to Holiday week shutdown. Every year we have from Christmas day to New Year's Day off. This year it is a total of 11 days off including the weekends as they are giving us Jan 2nd off too. Yippee!

Posted 3 years ago by SylMiaFelixsMomma #

  27. That sounds awesome SMM. 11 days off! Are you going to do any traveling or just hang around and enjoy time with your kitties? I generally take the week between Christmas and New Year off as vacation time and head to Louisville. This year, I am also hoping for a decent bowl game to go to. If not then more time at home with the babies is fine by me too.

  28. Kykat, I was actually looking at what airfare would be to Detroit, Michigan to visit family on my Dad's side of the family. My uncle was here in October hinting for me to come visit them. I might consider it and possibly fly there on Dec 26 and come back Dec 31. Just a short trip. I am concerned about the weather at that time of year as well as how busy the airports are and might just stay close to home. Something to think about but will need to plan something soon.

  29. 12paws, that's cool - I'm going to give it a try - thanks!
