  1. Awwww, I'm sorry, SM! I'm glad you can have her back home today, though.

Dog-sitting cleint called already to see how the puppies are - she's going to drive me nuts! Oh well, the puppies are cute and I'll have a nice time hanging out there with them. I'm looking forward to getting out of here today in a bit over an hour. I'm going to go see the dogs and then meet a friend for coffee. The rest of the day is mine (and the dogs' and my boys'!). I'm hoping Old Boss isn't thinking I'm staying over again, since now I'm supposed to staya with the puppies!
Tomorrow morning I'm cleaning my dentist's office again - I'm planning on doing it early and getting it over with. The coming week I'm working 5-9 and off Thursday and Friday - yay! I'm feeling as if I may be coming down with something, so a reduced schedule should help.

  2. GD, we are going on a cruise Monday out of Cruiseport Ft. Lauderdale. Royal Caribbean Line to Key West, Cozumel, Belize City and return on Saturday. Sometime I would love to come to Boca though. We keep getting incentives from Hilton family of hotels and don't be surprised!!!

  4. Have a great time, SOM! That sounds like fun (and it sounds warm, which would be nice).

  5. Good morning/afternoon all. With it being cooler weather, I can close my window in my bedroom now and so it is nice and quiet and can actually sleep in..well to about 8:30am or so. Right now neighbor's nephew or whatever is downstairs screaming his head off as he plays. Why is it they can't stop him from screaming? I mean we all live in the building..they aren't the only ones.

So I got the email this morning from the HR rep for the Executive Assistant position I interviewed for yesterday. I got the your background and skills are impressive but we have decided to pursue other candidates spiel. No worries. I have my current job for now. Hopefully we get throught the holiday okay. One good thing about being an admin is there is always a job out there (they just don't pay as good sometimes).

Enjoying a nice little skillet scrambled eggs with potatoes from Trader Joes and a glass of guava juice. The sun is shining and it is 49 degrees outside. With the sun, it doesn't feel that cool. In my place I would guess it to be more like around 60 degrees.

SOM, your trip sounds like fun. Have a great time! We will miss you but know you are enjoying yourself.

GD, that is nice of your friend to give you money, publix gift cert and her gas card. Now that is the way all clients should be for you. Will think positive that you get more like her.

  6. Thanks, Karin! Some are really nice and bring me home things from their vacations, leave me presents if I dog-sit over Christmas time, etc. - and then there are the ones that try to not even pay what they owe me.
I'm going to meet my friend at Wendy's at 2:00 - I didn't get breakfast and I'm hungry. I'm definitely starting to feel under the weather, though - a bit of a sore throat, a bit of a headache and getting the chills. I'm also tired, but I've only gotten about 6 hrs. of sleep each of the last two nights, so that could explain that.

I'm going to start kicking people out of here in a minute. I'll check back in later. Have a good day, all!

  7. Hi everyone who has come in after I left :)

Karin, sounds like it's nice and comfortable in California right now. Sunny and on the cool side. very nice! Sorry to hear about the other job but like you said, you have a job right now, and it never hurts just to interview at least.

It's going down to 19 degrees tonight. BRRRRRRRRRRR....they are not calling for anymore snow in my area at least. We have about an inch on the ground.

  8. Hi CM, well I just checked and I don't think it is 49 degrees as the google weather button on my toolbar says it is. It is actually 55 according to weather dot com website.

GD, maybe take some vitamin C or D to combat not feeling good.

My stupid downstairs neighbors are now yakking on the phone on their balcony and having a cigarette. These neighbors are foreigners and so when they talk on the phone, they have this need to talk loudly. Also, it seems like they are smoking more and more now. Instead of smoking a cigarette and being done for a couple of hours, it seems like the guy goes out about every 20 mins and has a cigarette. I am really wishing someone would move out on the top floor and away from the courtyard to where the neighbors are a lot more quiet. I should have taken that unit facing the hills. It was $125 more a month and I wasn't sure I wanted to pay that...darn darn darn. There are three units available in my complex now. Two one bedroom units on the first floor (no thank you) and a two bedroom on the second floor facing out towards the water (cannot afford). There was a third floor that faced north but they wanted $1475 a month for it and it was smaller than my unit.

  9. $1475 a month?????????
OMG...that is outrageous!!!!! That's more than double my house payment. Holy crap.

  10. Puppy is home. She has a severe heart murmur. It wasn't there in August. She will be assessed again in 30 days. He drained the abcess. He took the tumor and it is sent to the lab. He removed a tumor in her ear. In all it wasn't the best day at the vet. Deuter is happy that his girl is home. He thinks she smells but apparently he is getting over it. She is in a nest in the chair and Deuter is on the back of the chair watching over her. I am happy to see them together.

  11. Wow, SM! Poor Puppy! That is a lot to go through. Yeah, CM, the rents here in the SF Bay Area are outrageous. That is the price of wanting to live here.

  12. ((Lissy)) Poor baby. I hope she will be okay. Keep us updated SM.

  13. Yea, TDK is back up!!! I feel like I lost yesturday!Got up early this morning, and took daughter to Orland to visit college (UCF) that she will be heading off to in June! Beautiful campus, dorms as nice as hotel rooms!!! Sure beats the dump I lived in when I went to college!!...... let's see.... catching up.... have to tell you all my adventure yesturday taking Cuddles to the vet... I told you a few weeks ago she is "spot" peeing around the office instead of using her litterbox, so I know she is trying to send us a message.... My wonderful TDK family advised that she might have a UTI, so I made an appt. to take her in and get her checked out. Now remember that "Cuddles" is the antithesis of her name - I finally got her in a carrier and off to the vet. I warned the when we got there that she was "difficult", and they needed an extra assistant. Vet wanted to know why she hadn't been in for 3 years, so we updated her shots.... only two large growls and one twist to bite (she was being calm -ha!) They tried and tried to get a urine sample, but she just wouldn't let them. So, the vet suggested that I leave her for awhile, and she would call me in a couple of hours after they got the sample. Finally, 3 hrs later, the vet called and said to come get her immediately, she was "freaking out". I asked did you get the sample? No she said, there has been an "incident"! So I jump in the car and zoom over there. I could hear her from the moment I walked in the door.... her loud growl, scream is very distinctive. I went to the desk and told them I was here to pick up Cuddles... the lady runs in the back and yells "she's here"... I'm thinking what could possibly have happened. The attendent comes out carrying her in her box... I can hear growling, hissing, and the box is shaking with her trying get through the top the whole time.... he said they never could get a sample... somehow she clawed her way out of the cage .... clawed her way into a medical supply cabinet and holed up way in the back under a bunch of boxes of supplies. Took two attendents to pry her out, one got bitten (twice) and the other's has shredded arms & hands. Needless to say they were thrilled so see her go. I appologized, reminded them that I had warned them, and said "now you see why she hasn't seen a vet in three years!!!! So anyway, they gave me an antibotic to give her.. said it would cure a UTI if she had one, but wouldn't her to take it if she didnt have one. I took her home, where she immediately jumped out of the box, hissing her way all upstairs to daughter's room and promptly went sound asleep in her bean bag. What a pleasant afternoon!!!! (LOL)

  14. YOWZA, AV!!!!! Bet you won't get a "it's time to bring your kitty in for a check-up" card!! She sounds like a very determined kitty!

  15. LOL@Abbi!! That sounds like Sam although he was quite tame compared to cuddles! I have a total picture of the whoe scenario!

  17. thats brill, bless cuddles!! once when we took marigold to the vets she bit the vet, ran up the wall and sat on top of the cabinet in there! the vet was rolling around laughing and said he can't figure out how on earth she ran all the way up a painted wall!! where there's a will there's a way with a cat eh!!

  18. Cuddles gave me a much needed laugh. Thankfully Tessie is good about going since she needs to go so much. Welcome Pika, we checked out your catster page and the kits sent a friend invitation. I've had quite a week with Tessie's blood suger not stabilizing and me worrying if I'm doing something wrong. I feel like I am so slow at giving the insulin shots and she will try to pull aways. I've been giving lots of cuddles and special shot time only treats. My dad has been in the veteran's hopistal about 80 miles away and that has been hard. He came home yesterday. They didn't find anything but old age and are trying some different medications.

  19. Ugh! Daughter and I are trying to give Cuddles her pills, but aren't having much luck. Wasn't interested in the pill pockets, and after two atempts with te pencil syringe thing and her still spitting it out, we finally resorted to just crumbling it in her bowl (she usually licks that clean over night). Problem is, Abby and she cross eat (eat out of each other's bowls because they're in the same room) so I'm hoping Cuddles eats the pill, but it might be Abby! Any suggestions???

  20. We pry open jaw, throw in pill, tip up head, and rub throat--it stimulates swallowing. We then have to wait and make sure Teaser actually swallows. It is so much easier with dogs!

Posted 3 years ago by SoxsMom #

  21. I do the same twice a day with Bob, SM and it works very well. Sometimes he doesn't swallow, but I always open his mouth again and check.

Posted 3 years ago by GreatDane #

  22. Yeah, thing is, Cuddles bites!!!!!! and I mean hard!@!!!! ouch!!!!! tried, but can't get near the mouth. I'll try the pencil syringe again, but I really hate this!!!!!
