so my cat had kittens about a week ago. She had three kittens. Two are doing just fine, but the third kitten cries all day and night. The only time he doesn't cry is when he's sleeping or eating. I understand that all kittens are different, but I was wondering if something could be wrong with him to make him cry so much? I've also noticed that he's a little bit skinnier than the other kittens... they have a lot more fat on their bodies while you can feel his ribs in his body... is it normal for some kittens to develop later than others? just concerned..

Sounds like he may be the runt of the litter - others here know a lot more about such young kittens than me, but my advice would be to get him checked out. Seemingly trivial things can become very serious very quickly in babies. Keep us posted!

thanx for the advice. I was thinking he might be the runt as well. He moves a lot more than the other ones, I noticed... but he won't use his back legs.. he pulls himself along w/ his front paws.... it's kind of strange.. again - i don't know if it's cause he's so young..

This kitten needs to be evaluated by a vet. It may have serious birth defects, some of which may be fixed or to which the kitten can adapt. Other defects are much more serious and are sometimes fatal (such as inability to digest mother's milk well). Please get to a vet with your mama and all three kittens, so the vet can compare the one who's not thriving with the others.

Must check with the vet please. I had a similar experience with a runt who cried a lot and pulled his back legs just as you describe. The vet initially thought that there were serious birth issues. However with time and some supplemental feeding the kitten grew stronger and stronger and is now a full grown totally happy and healthy cat. But, you do need to check the kitty with a vet .
