  1. Dear Friends,

I'm sorry you haven't heard from me lately and now I am AGAIN asking for a helping hand.
As you all know I'm getting married and I'm sorting out all the paperwork that the church is asking for. Nothing complicated: The baptismal papers, ID and a small pre-marital course. Everything should be really simple but sadly it isn't. I was born and Baptized in the States (NY) and some of you remember that my first cry for help was to ask for the baptismal papers in the Church of Saint Joseph of Yorkville.
Well, finally they came (thank you all so much) buuuut they seem to have may name wrong!!!!
I have been trying to fix it here in Spain but to change a name in the baptismal records you have to go through a lot of pain and agony. First in Madrid, then the papers are sent to NY and from there to the little church where I got baptized.
Now the papers were filed in October but I have no news yet and I have calle the church in Madrid but they say they are not responsible and that it must be NY that is holding things up!!!

If I don't get this fixed I don't get married and believe me... I have been days crying over this.

    Could I have your help?
The main church in NY's telephone number is (212)3711000, could someone call and ask if they have lost MARINA KOTHE's file? It is a document that come from Spain asking for a change of name to MARINA CASTILLA.

I am so desperate I will probably spend money I don't have to go to the States myself in December... I was hoping maybe for a miracle... that some of you could find someone to guide me...

Any help would be wonderful... a prayer would be wonderful...

    Thanks

  2. I can definitely call the church on your behalf tomorrow...Although I'm not sure if they'll give me that information; but I can certainly try!

  3. I wish I were in NY and could help, Pipa's Mum, but as I am not, I will send positive vibes for Sullis when she calls and for St Joseph's to sort out the problem. I am sure they will try when they hear that you cannot get married without those papers. Please don't cry, PM {{{HUGS}}}

  4. If at all possible, it might be more advantageous to actually go to the church for assistance.....its easy to blow someone off on the phone, not as easy face-to-face....not that the church would do that.

  5. Thank you all for caring. I hope I don't have to go face-to-face but I will do so if I see there is no other way. I am sadly not been given any assistance from Spain as they say that the have sent all the documents to NY and that they are not responsible.
This is insane! I have been a Catholic all my life, my family is Catholic, I have been battized, had my comunion, my confirmation and now they can't sort my documents out?

    *frustrated sigh*

I just want to know where my papers are!

  6. Oh not you my friend, but if someone here in the states could go in person, it might be more helpful.

  7. I was brought up Catholic too, PM, and all I can say is, the way the Church cheerleads for the institution of marriage, you'd think they'd be rushing those documents over to you in a private jet with a papal escort. (Not meaning to offend anyone but really!) *exasperated sigh*

  8. PM, we will get through to the church..if Sullis can't then I know one of us will try. We have a few NY'ers too that might be able to go there with a few whack bonk sticks :) Maybe I can go to NY, they can't deny a pregnant lady..can they? lol

That is IF I can get married...

Posted 3 years ago by Renee in Arkansas #

Posted 3 years ago by Renee in Arkansas #

  17. I know she will Ron, thank you.

Spain is a very Catholic country and my family and Javier's family would be terribly upset if I don't get married in a religious ceremony...

I am at a loss of what to do!

HE finaly [at 80 ] stepped aside to let a younger man take over and the church hasn't been run as good since

Posted 3 years ago by Renee in Arkansas #

  20. It is just so frustrating not knowing IF they have received the documentation from Spain... and IF they have... are they working on it? Do they need more documents?

Oh kitten family... at least I can vent with all of you!
Who knows? Maybe I'll be there next month armed with my home-made whack-bonk

Posted 3 years ago by PipasMumSpain #

  21. Maybe this sounds crazy but try writing the POPE .WE over here some times cut out the middle man and go straight to the top to get things done

Posted 3 years ago by Renee in Arkansas #

Posted 3 years ago by Renee in Arkansas #

  24. Marina, if you end up having to come to New York, you can stay with me :)

Do not panic, we (the all-powerful TDK we) will sort this out.

Sullis, if you run into trouble when you call the church, shoot me an e-mail and I'll try too - newsgoddess AT gmail DOT com

  25. Oh thank you thank you thank you!!! And Kilroy, you are so kind but I would not impose on you and your family.... but if I do have to go your company would be welcome! maybe you could tell me where to find a cinamon bun to drown my sorrows in...

If they lose my papers or not inform me and I don't get married because someone could not be bothered to file my documents... I WILL write to the Pope...and to the CNN...and to Obama!

Posted 3 years ago by PipasMumSpain #

  26. Well, Kilroy may be able to help you with CNN, as well! :)

  27. THAT 's the way Cindy raises her kid sister

Posted 3 years ago by Renee in Arkansas #

  28. PM don't you worry! You and Javier will have the wedding of your dreams! Prayers are with you!

Posted 3 years ago by SoxsMom #

  29. Good morning, Ron. Are you having Thanksgiving with Loretta? How are the kitties doing? And how are you? Is it tough being back at work?

Posted 3 years ago by GreatDane #

  30. Never fear, PM. I'm sure your sympathetic story will touch the heart of the staff at the little church your records are located in. Do you have any idea of how the name came to be so different from your actual name? Was the paperwork sent by the church in Spain in Spanish or English?

    Try not to worry. There is still time, but it doesn't hurt to have your friends here help move the process along! {{{hugs}}
