  2. Can you get this baby to the vet? Do you have an emergency 24 hr vet anywhere near you? You are doing an awesome job, but really , he does need to be seen ASAP.

  3. MK, it does sound as if it is painful to him. It may be nothing serious, just an accidental scratch or something, but, as I say, if he were mine, I would take him to the vet unless there is a rapid improvement and he has opened it again by tomorrow morning. I'm not entirely sure what you mean by it looking 'black' but that worries me too.

  4. Macho was breathing slow last night when I checked on him, I laid with him for an hour and pet him, he had wet his bed so I changed his bedding. He was acting very lethargic and didnt want to stand when I removed him to do the changing.I figured he was just tired since I had woken him up and it was about 3am.
7am my husband went in to check on him and his breathing was very slow. He called me to come in and I immediatley called the ER in the vet hospital and told them we would be there shortly. I bundled my little man up and rushed him in.
5min after they took him back they came to get us and said the vet would like to speak with us in another room. We went in, Macho wasnt with her. She quickly explained that he had gone into cardiac arrest. She had oxygen on him and they were currently performing CPR.. but he was a VERY sick kitten. Even if she did revive him, he probably would not make it. She explained that he had a virus that was consistantly shutting his immune system down more and more. SInce he had been on antibiotics for 2weeks now, she said he most likely would not pull out of it. She said she could tell that we had been taking good care of him but it wasnt something he could fight. He was alive only by manual cpr and she asked if she could let him go. I unwillingly said okay. ='(
Its ben a pretty hard morning. But I'm glad he is no longer suffering and was glad I got to be a part of his life, even a short one. I said a prayer while lying with him last night and I guess this was gods will.
Rest in Peace my little Macho Man

  5. I am so, so sorry. Poor little Macho. Please be assured that you did everything and more for him, sometimes it's just not meant to be. He was a very lucky little kitten to have you in his corner. Some cats never know a tenth the amount of love and care that he knew from you in his short little life. God bless you both.

  9. MK, so sorry to hear that the little one didn't make it. Sometimes the Big Plan only allows one a short time here as a brave spirit is needed elsewhere and this plane may only be a short stop on the way to a different destination. We who are left behind can only grieve and accept until we are reunited with those we've lost, both human and furkind.

  11. Thank you all for your advice and support. I wish I would've been able to spend all that time loving him and not torturing him with syringes and doctor visits. I hope that he knew how much I loved him and all that I wanted for him. I hope he is in a better place where he feels great and can be the bouncy kitten with a life he deserved to have.
I have also lit a candle- DES in the group tdk
After two losses, i may not get another for a while. But will check in to see how your little ones are.
    Thank you again for everything

  12. Macho knew that you loved him. You were providing critical care to save him not torturing him. He was warm and comforted by your presence.

You might find some comfort in this story about the Rainbow Bridge:

    Someday when you are ready, I believe Macho will bring another kitten to you. The new kitten won't replace Macho, but will be a wonderful addition to your family. {{{hugs}}}

  13. I think cats are very intuitive and know when we are trying to help them even if they put up an argument about it. I have to pill and give my Tess an insulin shot twice a day. She doesn't like it but she seems to understand that I am doing it for her.

Posted 11 months ago by Cat talk rules #

  14. So does my Bobby who has to take a pill every 12 hours. Macho knew you were doing it to help him, MK. I'm so sorry for your loss.

  15. That's true. Jasper doesn't enjoy his insulin injections (unless he's eating, when he doesn't notice them) but he hangs around till he gets them and comes to me when I call him, even though he can see the syringe in my hand...) I believe that Macho knew you were helping him and he knew you loved him to bits. I'm sure he fought as hard as he could for you, but small kittens are such fragile things.

The others are right, He knew warmth and love and comfort with you. He could have died alone on the streets somewhere like so many strays do but he died with his guardian angel looking after him as best she could. I'm so sorry.
