OK, so I have 2 kittens that are almost two weeks old. Eyes completely open. They move around a lot.. already exploring..
well im noticing that the mother cat isn't spending as much time with them as when they were born.. or when they were about a week old.. she kind of wants to do her own thing and doesnt feed them as much or lay with them all day long. is this normal that she spends less them with them after the first week??

What happened to the third kitten you told us about?
Is the mother cat allowing the kittens to nurse as long as they want to? If they appear lethargic or dehydrated, you may need to supplement their diet with some Kitten Milk Replacement (KMR) which can be purchased in a pet store. You would need to get a tiny bottle at the pet store and put the milk in that to feed them.
Kittens that young can go down quickly and die if they get dehydrated. You should really have them checked by a vet to make sure they are in good health.
Good luck with these little ones.

kittens eyes shouldnt be all the way open at 2 weeks, you sure you have the age right

yeah, im positive. i read on many websites they open between 7-14 days. i'd say they are about 90% of the way open. might get a little bit wider or something but they're open.

I have fostered many many litters of kittens and the eyes start to open but do not open completly and they do not really start moving around or exploring much till they are about 4 weeks old

Have you taken the kittens and their mom in to the vet to be checked out? Your vet can answer any questions you have and make sure the kittens are in good health.

I think you should try to find a shelter and tell them your situation. There are many shelters that love to help people because by helping you, it helps the animals. Perhaps they could spay the mom cat for a reduced fee, or look online or at the pet shops for cheap spaying and cheap medical care.
I know Pet Supplies Plus here just opened a vet thing, where they do cheap shots and checkups. Please, try to contact a shelter or vet (tell them your situation, maybe they can find a home for the mom and babies)
If you want to keep the cat and kittens, you should still find a place to spay the mom and check out the babies.
Like I said, a humane society would be your best bet. I know here, they are always helping out people who can't afford the expenses and people who find animals.Posted 3 years ago by Niki and Charlie #

Oh, since you found the mom, was she with the kittens or did she have them while you had her???
If she came with the babies, they may be older than you think. I know when I found Charlie, he was around three weeks and his eyes were just opening and he was still extremely clumsy and tiny and was unable to sucessfully walk around!
Perhaps they're a week older than you think, unless the mom had them while you had her.Posted 3 years ago by Niki and Charlie #

If you're completely broke, I urge you to turn over the mother cat and her kittens to a shelter. They will get the food, shelter, and vet care they will need; with any luck, they will have a foster family who can take over the mama and her babies until they're weaned.

another case of deja vu I am afraid. Too much time and not enough to do with it.

That's entirely possible. However, my post was giving the benefit of the doubt, figuring the person posting might have a genuine problem as she describes it, and offering what I could as the best solution.

If it sounds like a troll, and talks like a troll, chances are it's a troll.

Trust me, you don't need to remind me about that!

Oooops, Ann, that was not intended for you. Sorry. It just came to my mind as I was reading the thread. I think I may have been online too long today ...

I am hoping that even if he or she is a troll, there aren't some sick little babies in need of attention!
And is "Manson"Chick supposed to be from the singer or Charles??
Either way, I hope his or her pets are well taken care of!Posted 3 years ago by Niki and Charlie #

Ok, I don't know if any of you will read this. I don't know very much about this website. I hope that you are informed that I left a comment so that you can read this. First off, I am 'mansonchick023'. That was my screenname. I don't remember my password, and I'm unable to login to that account. I came across my post from just about a year ago and wanted to leave my thoughts with you. I was asking for help because I was trying to raise kittens that were dying. This is a kitten chat forum. You people are here to HELP. I was trying my hardest to do the best I could for the kittens. The remarks that you guys left were rude. You don't know me or what I stand for. Maybe you should stop being so judgemental. And to set the record straight, I had just moved to idaho with my abusive sociopathic boyfriend. I didn't have the money to take these kittens to the vet seeing as how I had just moved to idaho weeks prior. How did I have an internet connection? My neighbor had internet service on his laptop! Oh and a month after I wrote this post, I ended up staying at a women's shelter for fear of my life because my boyfriend was going to kill me. I was scared and alone. I was 3,000 miles away from home with not a soul to call. You know it's sad that you people had such an affect on me that I'm actually posting this a year later. Now I'm safe and out of that relationship. My life is better. Maybe you should stop being so judgemental.

I'm sorry Stacy,I'm really glad you got out of that abusive situation. Sometimes we are teased and hurt by people posing as kitten owners. As I recall we had a lot around the time you posted unfortunately. Speaking for myself I'm sorry,we are not usually judgmental,we are usually helpful and kind.
-
Thank you very much! I don't know why these posts bothered me so much. It's just that at the time I had so much going on in my life. I felt like such a terrible person because of my ex. I hated myself and it hurt when I read those posts. I appreciate you taking the time to comment on this. Thank you.

I'm glad you are out of the abusive situation too. I'm sorry you were hurt by some of the comments here. I hope you keep posting. :)

Perhaps they bother you because you accuse people here of being judgemental, but you didn't give the entire situation, and you know that. There were many here that were praying for you and trying to give you the very best advice. If you had spoken of your situation you would have had even more advice. We can only help by what we are told. I am sorry you felt bad, but you should go back and read how many tried to help you and you never told the whole situation. It appears we are not the only judgemental people after all.
Thanks be to God you are out of the situation and are alive. May you live a long and healthy life and find a partner that will treat you with the respect that you deserve.

Stacey, this is a very loving, caring group of people. Whether it's about our furry ones (which is what brought us together in the first place) or something of a personal nature, this group will gather round and support each other (you included!) with prayer, advice, concern. I've seen the types of posts Buttercup is talking about and it's hard to not think that, somewhat, in reading your posts. You did get some support and advice and will continue to get that if you decide to hang around and introduce yourself properly. I'm sure those involved in the hurtful posts feel sad and apologetic now knowing the truth (and of course I cannot and am not speaking for them) but I agree with Soxsmom (SM) in her assessment also.
I, too, am glad you are out of that situation and that one baby did find a loving home.
Hope you hang around and let us get to know you as you get to know us.

Once again, thank you guys for taking the time to respond. It truly means a lot to me. And I did see that some of you were actually trying to help me with the kitten issue, and I do appreciate it. It's just that for some reason, in the mind state I was in at the time, it really cut deep. No hard feelings. I just needed to get it off my chest. I apologize if my post came off at all condescending or rude.
