The reason for therapy is to make sure that we can identify patterns in our lives and not repeat the bad ones. Making the same mistakes over again is very tiresome, and sometimes we just need to get enough time to ourselves to sit in a heap and decide what we've done, what we want, and how we are going to get it.
If we can do it alone and with the help of good friends and our own introspection, great.
If we can do it with therapy and the help of a good counselor, again, great.
Either way, (to quote Larry the Cable Guy), "Git 'er done!" Do the things that will ensure a good life and don't repeat mistakes.
