  1. The reason for therapy is to make sure that we can identify patterns in our lives and not repeat the bad ones. Making the same mistakes over again is very tiresome, and sometimes we just need to get enough time to ourselves to sit in a heap and decide what we've done, what we want, and how we are going to get it.

If we can do it alone and with the help of good friends and our own introspection, great.

If we can do it with therapy and the help of a good counselor, again, great.

Either way, (to quote Larry the Cable Guy), "Git 'er done!" Do the things that will ensure a good life and don't repeat mistakes.

Karin, sweetie, you're going to do just fine! We all love you so much and we are all praying for you. You can't lose, kiddo!

  2. Thank you all. Emma, I love Larry the Cable Guy's Git'er done phrase. It says it all. I managed to go to bed an hour earlier and also unload a couple of boxes. I will try to tackle the kitchen tonight and finish up the bedroom tomorrow. Then I will be able to figure out if my Grandmother's dining table and six chairs stays or goes into storage.

I am so glad it is Friday. Traffic was a breeze. I got to work 10 minutes early instead of 15 minutes late and left at the same time. I was leaving around 6:20am but will try leaving at 6:20 on Mondays and Fridays and 6am on Tues-Thursdays.

Cable person is coming tomorrow and then I will be able to use the internet at home. Yay!!

  5. Karin: Yes, my sister, we are hear for venting, but if you are really needing a therapist, a good place to go is your local university. The school of psychology at any university has a training clinic that is available to the general public. Cost is almost always on a sliding scale, and will always be much cheaper than seeing someone in private practice. Hours available are usually more flexible, too. These students are all in the latter part of their post-graduate studies, and are supervised by licensed and experienced professors. All you have to do is find one with whom you are comfortable.

Now I'll say what Pipa's mum wouldn't: este pen**jo se necessite ir de nuestro pays. Si este ch*****dero te moleste una vez mas, tu teneis muchos compadres que quieren dar al esta na**a un leson qu'el no va olvidar!

(It helps to have a Hispanic in-law who owns a construction company!)

  7. Karin...Heck,half your psychological frustrations are gone just getting the jerk out of your life. I've never had temp jobs, but, even if that's all you have for now,it's enuf to keep you stablized. When you start getting your space w/the kitties organized,it will be another big load off your mind. Take it from someone(me) that lived in her car for 4 months once, your heading in the right direction & things will smooth out. Just don't rush things in your mind,or else it could make you feel lost. And believe me,your not lost. I envy you that you've been in the right place at the right time to accomplish what you have. Hugs & Purrs from me & my fuzzies. Love,Susie

  8. Ginny, I only got part of it translated, but I too am impressed!

  9. What's funnier is when this gringa de gringas catches someone trying to slip something past me! You should see their faces when I give them the "death stare" and growl "va se veren" at them! (evil laughter)

One of these days I will tell you some Spanish words you might like... because swearing in South American is not like swearing in Spanish...

  12. LOL - I also only got part of Ginny's text translated (high school Spanish from ** years ago doesn't cover a lot of those words!), but I got the general idea! :-D

  13. Do you realize that this is one of the most supportive sites on the internet for women? Kittenmaster, you've started mental medicine for women on the web. Bravo, and brava!

  14. Pipa's mum: Hubby's family loves the story about Abuela's visit from Mexico to Spain decades ago. Deciding she needed new undergarments, Dona (sorry, my English-only keyboard won't let me put a "~" above an "n") Cuquis strolled into an upscale store in Madrid and politely asked to be shown some underwear. She was baffled by the shocked reaction of the salesclerk, because she knew she didn't do anything wrong; after all, "calzones" is the perfectly proper word for "underwear" in Mexico. It wasn't until later in the trip that she learned that word has a VERY different meaning in Spain!

  15. I only know a few phrases in Spanish from learning from some of the Spanish girls at my high school. I know how to say you are a drunk, a pig, and go "F--your mother" aside from a few other choice words. I also know how to say what is your name, mine is...and what time is it? I took high school French and sometimes a word is very close in Spanish to the French translation because of their both being "romance languages" coming from Latin. One of these days, I will try to learn some more Spanish since California is becoming more and more a Spanish colony.
