Hi all, I'm back!
I lost my match 6-4 in the third set :( My partner was really upset, but she's been away and hasn't played much.
I left the match and went to pick up my mail and stopped at the vets to give them a card from Bobby and Mi and their Christmas pictures. Then had to stop at Target for a few things. Tonight I'm going to a Christmas party with my tennis team and I'm looking forward to that. I'm going to work from 4:30 - 7:00 and then will leave to get to the party at 7:30. Yay!
I'm hoping my anxiety attack last night was a one-time thing and that they won't start up again.
Bobby and Mi send greetings. They're upset I still didn't get a tree. I was thinking of doing it tomorrow, but now it looks as if I'm going to go for that darn hair cut tomorrow that I missed last week.

I'm back, and we won!!! My team actually won the golf tourney!!! I will say, I had one of the strongest players as our leader, but I did make a couple of really good putts to help out!! does a little happy dance!!!
I do love getting everyone's cards.. thanks so much, like everyone else, the TDKers are almost the only cards we're getting this year. I'm working on my video card ( sorry I can't afford the postage this year ), but I'm hoping to give you all a glimpse of some of the "funny" characters in my life. i.e. Nef (the pig), Meatball (the monitor), and of course Cuddles and Abbs. Son gets home around the 18th, and he will help me finish it, so I may be late, but I'm thinking of you all and wish everyone the happiest, most joyful, peaceful and loving holidays (whatever your celebration might be). -
Sorry for your loss GD.
Good for you Abbi.
GD, have you had panic attacks before? I developed them after a reaction to a drug given to me after surgery. I used to get them strangely enough when I had a cold. Did not want to use the addictive type anti-anxiety drugs, and have found a holistic type solution. If you'd like to try something let me knowPosted 3 years ago by Tigerlilly #

Ooooh, this sounds like it'll be fun, AV! I've only gotten TDK Christmas cards myself this year. I hope the tradition of writing Christmas cards isn't dying out :(
Glad you won the gold tournament, AV - I'm unhappy I lost my tennis match. I'm 9 - 3 now, but I would have really liked to be 10 - 2! -
A video card, that sounds like a wonderful idea.

Yes, TL, I've had them before. I dstarted having them about maybe 6 years ago or so. I went through extensive testing because I was sure there was something wrong with my heart. When my doctor told me it was anxiety, I didn't believe him, but when the meds started working, I did. He put me on klonopin and Zoloft. I was on it for a year or so and weaned myself of. I was fine for a couple of years and then it came back. This time it returned with dizziness in addition to the heart pounding. I had a lot of shaking, too. I kept telling myself it was anxiety, but I still ended up worried enough to spend a day at the ER and then went back and saw my doctor and started the meds again. Once again, they worked. I've been off the medicine for maybe a year now and really hope it's not returning again. It gets to the point where I can barely function and am afraid to leave the house.
Last night I got the heart pounding and shaking again, but I had a bottle of valerian root I had gotten a while back and took one tablet. It made me tired enough to get to sleep and today I'm feeling fine again.
And yes, if you know of anything I can take so I dont' have to go back to the doctor again, I'd love to hear about it.Thanks, AV - I'm planning on it!

I didn't know that you had that, GD!!! {{{{{{{{{hugs!}}}}}}}}}}

Give this a try GD: it's a natural remedy made by Hyland's:
Calms for day time and calms forte for at night. It has worked for me. You can take as many as you like , usually I take 2-3. I have also taken it as a preventive, when I have a cold for example.
Locally I got it at Whole Foods, but sometimes it is available at a lesser cost in some drug stores.
I hope this helps.
Have fun at your party tonight.Posted 3 years ago by Tigerlilly #

A few years back I developed ulcers and my doctor told me "NO caffeine". I was a hardcore coffee drinker then. So of course I did what I do best...whine... and asked him what the heck I was supposed to drink in the morning??? "Postum" says he. NEVER fall for that - it is nasty!!!!! I think it's what Ewell Gibbons must have had in the morning - you know, ground up tree bark.

Yuk WWM! I know decaf is not 100% caffeine free, but what the heck is Postum?
I'm not a very nice person without my first cup of coffee in the am.Posted 3 years ago by Tigerlilly #

Martinis work for me!! LOL!!! GD, my son had a Tachtacardia (sp?) condition - it is fast beatings of the heart. They thought it was anxiety for a long time until they put a monitor on him. Just to be safe, you may want to have your doctor check you with a monitor. I am not a doctor, so my explanation will be simple, but from what I understand, the heart has "plumbing" (arterties & veins that carry blood to and from, and electrophysics ( electrical (type) of signals that dart around the chambers ) to keep it beating normally. My son's heart had too many holes in the chambers, therefore, his "electric signals" wouldn't go in the regular places, thus causing the abnormal beats. (You doctors out there are probably LYAO at my simplistic ranting - so please correct me if I'm wrong) ... .anyway, when he was 18 they did an ablation (outpatient) and he's been completely over them since. Just a thought!
-
Very good point Abbi. GD, if there's a "heart racing " component to your symptoms, you should make sure that a holter monitor test has been done (basically monitoring your heart rate over approx 24hr with a home device), this is to exclude any heartrhythm abnormalities.

Postum is roasted grain. I think that even a self-respecting Civil War soldier would have refused to drink that stuff!!
AV, very nice explanation! *gives AV an "A" for today's class!!!!*

I'm not in the medical profession - I am in the nursing profession. I got my backside handed to me by a professor in nursing school for saying that we were "in the medical profession". Boy, I never made that mistake again!!!!

Sorry to disagree WWM, you are in the medical profession. Couldn't do a thing without nurses.
