Ralph and Edna were both patients in a mental hospital, and they were in love. One day, while they walked past the hospital swimming pool, Ralph suddenly jumped into the deep end, sank to the bottom, and stayed there. Edna promptly jumped in to save him, swimming to the bottom of the pool and pulling him out.
When the Head Nurse heard of Edna's heroics,she immediately ordered Edna's discharge from the hospital, as she now considered her mentally stable.
When she went to tell Edna the news, she said, "Edna, I have good news and bad news..The good news is that you're being discharged, since you rationally responded to a crisis by jumping into the pool and saving the life of the person you love. The bad news is that Ralph hung himself in the bathroom with his bathrobe belt right after you saved him. I am so sorry for your loss."
Edna replied,"He didn't hang himself; I hung him there to dry. When do I get out?"
