Wow, Paulajeanne! That is cold. I experienced minus 15 Farenheit but that was including the windchill factor. I had five layers of clothes on and was still really cold. This was in Santa Fe, NM where they are up 7500 feet. It was the first winter there and it was their worst in 20 years. They closed the college I was going to for two days. We almost had blizzard weather as it was snowing so hard.
Here in my area it is about 45 degrees right now and pouring rain on and off. I wish I could stay home with my cats but that will come soon. This week is the last full week of work till next year (Jan 5th). Next week I work Mon and Tues and then it is 12 days off. Yippee! I can't wait.

Well, they don't close the schools here until it gets to 40 below and the govenor has to decide! Meanwhile, I have to get up to staff meeting at the college at 1 pm. I don wanna go! Wow, 12 days, what a great vacation!

Miu, I had to go find that! That's cute, wonder if it's been there all along and you're the first one to notice it?

One of the staff ladies just got a kitten. She managed to get a photo of it and her 3 year old son looking at it with the biggest smile on his face. They went to a shelter and got it. She and her husband had a cat years before and looking forward to sharing this with their son.

GD, that sounds so good...I would love to get some good coffee and some good bread.
LK, that is such a wonderful gift for them and the kitty!!! That's so awesome.

LK, that is so wonderful about your staff ladies helping a shelter kitten! Wow, PJ, 40 below to have the offices and schools close. Sounds like dangerous weather. At what temperature does the skin on your face start to freeze? Yikes!
PJ, my company closes their offices from Dec 25-Jan 1st. I am taking Dec 24th off as I don't want to be out in the last minute shopping/travel traffic. Since Jan 1st falls on a Thursday, they are giving us Jan 2nd off as well. So if you count from Dec 24-Jan 2nd, including the weekends, it is a total 12 days off.
When I was temping in Dec 2005 and Dec 2006, I worked at two different companies that closed their offices from Dec 25-Jan 1st but it wasn't as fun having it off as I wasn't getting paid. This is the second time I will have the holiday break paid due to being hired a week and half before my current company went on the holiday break.

I miss the days of paid vacation. Not that I ever took much time off, but it was nice for the holidays. The bonus was always welcome, too :)
Bad luck with my cards - I ran out of stamps! I thought of running out to get more, but heard on tv that today's the busiest day of the year at the post office, so I'm staying away!!!

GD....... Publix sells stamps...At least all the stores up here do. They might just be the plain ones and not the Christmas ones.

GD...ATM's now sell stamps too..Not all of them but I know most do. Not to mention Hallmark stores have offered me stamps as well as grocery stores.

Iv'e seen them at ATMs, but not at Hallmark. I want to make sure to Christmas stamps, though.
I'm done, except for the 5 cards I didn't have stamps for. I did 20-something today and my hand's tired.
I have to get ready for work. I'm going to stop at Crazy Cat Lady's house to finally get paid, on the way to work. I'll check in later!
